  • i checked my stats.fm top 2023 artists vs wrapped, and i'm seeing the same inaccuracies that you mention. my wrapped artists were:

    • Artist A
    • Artist B
    • Artist C
    • Artist D
    • Artist E (not on top 5 on stats.fm)

    while on stats.fm, it shows:

    • Artist A
    • Artist D
    • Artist B
    • Artist F (not on top 5 for wrapped)
    • Artist C
    • Artist E

i think that spotify is definitely strategic with placing certain artists in certain positions. for example, "Artist F" probably was in top 5 last year as well (and is a successful but less-well-known artist), but went unlisted on wrapped this year and was replaced by Artist C, a global top 200 artist. and it worked - i had not listened to Artist C in a while, and when i saw my wrapped results, i started listening to them again.

  • howdy!

just to give the short-and-sweet version: drank pretty heavy and pretty steady for 10ish years til one day i woke up after a bender and felt completely separated from my physical self.

after that, i wanted to take a break until the next weekend. after one weekend, i realized i should really probably stop for a month. now, here i am 15 months later sober.

for anyone reading this who is either about to start their sober journey or just getting started, some tips from my experience:

    • get plenty of drinks that you enjoy stocked up. for me, flavored sparkling water (like liquid death) and/or diet soda
    • get ready for your cravings for sweets/dessert to through the roof. every sober person i've talked to agrees on this: you stop drinking and you fill the void with ice cream or candy
    • it's ok to fail. don't give up because of a slip up - just get back on the horse and keep going
