Beehaw* defederated us?
  • It is confusing to create an entire instance that is devoted to one thing. I would much prefer joining The Garden as a community @ whatever instance you choose. I think you are going against the basic design intentions of the fediverse. All the best.

  • ANNOUNCEMENT: defederating effective immediately from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works
  • This development reinforces my choice to not sign up @beehaw. The risk of mod over-reach is far more serious than my feelings being hurt because someone wrote a mean spirited comment. So long beehaw mods, I hope your impossible goal to keep the internet free from hatred does not drive you totally insane.

  • First active day on the fediverse after 11 years on Reddit, and liking it here!
  • I generally agree with your statement. In addition to the hateful community, voat was being manipulated (IMO) by external organization(s) to amplify the hate. Possible reasons were that voat was a honeypot for law enforcement and that a free voat was a threat to the already controlled corporate sites like reddit. Perhaps I'm being overly paranoid, but the antisemitism in particular never seemed entirely organic.
In the end, voat still had potential but it died for the same reasons reddit is failing - centralized ownership. The voat owner / host eventually just called it quits and shut it down. Why? Perhaps voat outlived it's usefulness to the big three (CIA / FBI / NSA).

Why do new posts auto-load on the 'front page'?

If this place gets super busy, the front page will be unusable. Is there a way to turn this off?
