Hey kbin! Have you ever driven a fast car, and I mean a really fast car. What’s it like?

Hi friends, I have a question for you out there. What is it like to drive an awesomely fast sports car. Like a Porsche or Ferrari or Lamborghini? My question is more about the accelerator pedal. Is it more sensitive? Or does it depress a further distance than your typical Ford or Buick would? How do you control the speed around town if the machine is built to go so much faster so much more quickly than your average daily driver?

Thanks for indulging me.

Have you replaced your iPhone battery, and was it worth it?
  • I had my battery replaced by Apple on my XS. I was down to about 80% life, maybe less. I have seen a very noticeable improvement in battery life. It seems to charge faster when I’m using it on a charger. And before I was losing like 40% of my battery overnight while my phone sat here. Now it’s maybe 2 or 3%.

If you go with Apple they also replace your speaker since it’s integrated or something? They also accidentally cracked my screen when replacing battery, so I got a new battery, new speaker, and brand new screen for like $80 or $90. Definitely breathed new life into my phone.

Doesn’t Facebook already have more than 1 billion users?

  • Can someone please remind me how to open a Lemmy community in kbin? Maybe this is a bigger issue on mobile.
  • @Lifecoach5000 As far as I can tell, kbin does work in a similar fashion. However, I am not sure if I am coming across two unique communities, depending on how I reach them (kbin search vs. Google search). Or if the discrepancy is because we are still in the infant stages of fediverse and not everything is going to mesh together 100% (e.g. some subscriber / comment totals might be off because they are not fully synced between instances yet?)

  • @Zana

Sorry not sure I understand. Let me try another example and maybe that will solidify it.

I’d like to join this community: https://imgur.com/a/lJX8b7u

When I search @asklemmy in kbin.social is see this: https://imgur.com/a/oeDPZ8i

I tried modifying the link you previously posted to show as : https://kbin.social/m/asklemmy@lemmy.ml

    Which shows as : https://imgur.com/a/ysUutXx

But this community has far fewer subscriber and comments than the “original” Lemmy community, as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/givdaoE

So I am just trying to figure out… why? And how can I fix this? And how can I iron out the process? Thanks in advance!

If I open a federated community I see this in kbin : https://imgur.com/a/oFQnMqj

And if I click the link to ‘Browse more on the original instance’ I’m brought to this screen : https://imgur.com/a/uNCvirP

And there is no option to subscribe without creating an account on that instance.

I think I might have read you need to search with a specific phrase but I can’t find where I saw that.

Does anyone else sometimes feel overwhelmed by (big) games?
  • At about 20 hours in I remember thinking, “hmmm this map isn’t too awfully large. I handled BOTW no problem.” But my god the map is deceptive of the sheer size and “hidden” regions.

60+ hours in now and I think maybe 16% of all achievements? Wild.

Amazing how many situations in which this can be applied!

  • That seems like it will present a problem. If an uninformed redditor asks, “hey is it safe to move this wire?” And some troll replies, “yes”… with no one there who is knowledgeable to moderate. Might lead to some disastrous outcomes.

*edit - I agree with you forcing the admin’s hands. Im not sure they know what they will be getting themselves into.

Call me a bird, because I’m now migrating. Poor jokes aside, I’m hoping to ask a quick question. And I hope this is the place to do it. But since it’s a learning experience and I’m asking for help I won’t be offended if you tell me.

Anyways, I’ve been dabbling with kbin and Mastodon a bit. I thought I might like Mastodon since there is an iOS app. But I don’t quite like how it’s laid out. It seems like I need to follow people or things for them to show up for me. With Kbin it feels more like Reddit in the sense that there is an ‘all’ page comprised of many subsections to explore.

Am I correct in this assessment?
