Is kraken.com legit?
  • They are as alright as a centralized exchange can be, getting more and more corporate tho, it’s not the same company it was 5 years ago anymore. But they’re still very close to the community, they aren’t a big fan of KYC themselves but they have to do it. If you want to avoid that better go with decentralized exchanges.

  • 'Glorifying Terrorism' Charges - France Sentences Pro-Palestine Activist to Three Years
  • Likely that there’s more to this, but I think it’s also important to remember that they did the same to some climate activists and that institutions in France are notoriously hostile towards the French-Muslim population, especially of (North-)African descent.

There are way too many people alive who still remember France having colonies. Levantine Arabs have a better standing due to some Palestinians and Lebanese churches having close ties to France, but in general I also wouldn’t rule out that this sentence is as harsh just because someone disliked by the government was too critical of said government. Although I have to admit that this is now speculation from my side

  • Stabbings, car ramming as Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer fans violently attacked in Amsterdam after match
  • Absolutely this. I saw the videos first and read newspaper articles later. Nowhere in the articles did they mention the chants and the ripping off of flags, I saw both in those videos. It’s crazy how even violent hooligans are now portrayed as victims just because it fits the narrative.

  • Damn. 😔
  • Also iirc lemmy.ml doesn’t require an email address which is another plus. My account was also with ml initially. The only disadvantage of lemmy.ml is that if you go to all or local you’ll see all of that tankie BS.

  • lemmy rn
  • Not in the US but in another place where fascism is on the rise. The sad reality is that leftists all around the world might have to start thinking about self-defence. Go to the gym, practice martial arts. Since you’re in the US, arm yourself, learn how to shoot.

It sounds crazy but I’m not kidding, we still have time until the SA/SS Type of people actually have the power to roam the streets and establish a full blown dictatorship. Before that happens we have to learn to fight back.

In parallel, get organized. Join grassroots organizations. Try to spread the word. Talk to the people you know and tell them what you’re doing and why. It feels like we can’t do anything but we have to start somewhere.

And finally, think about an exit strategy. Once it's 1933 and the dictatorship is established and political enemies go to the concentration camps, it’s too late and you better be somewhere abroad already.

I know all of this sounds extreme, and I’m hoping for a much more boring dystopia, but this is what would prepare you for the truly Orwellian dystopia and what may help prevent it from happening.

  • Google Authenticator collects much more data than the other authenticator apps PCMag reviewed
  • I read their article but didn’t understand their methodology. This is pretty much in contrast to this video where a bunch of apps got audited and to everyone’s surprise Google Authenticator seemed like one of the most private alternatives.

Really not trying to defend Google here because… they’re fucking Google, but I’m wondering why the results are so different.

  • Group Chat
  • IMO because it’s a Signal group and you can’t separate user profiles and have to register with a phone number (yeah I know I know you have a username now). Some people including me won’t join therefore

  • Oh Shit

The worst part? It seems to be true
