  • Rituals are ordinary spells, aren't they? The character gets something like two spells per level, or transcribes extra spells from scrolls for some significant amount of money+time. In the 5e sourcebook it's described in the section titled "adding spells" IIRC.

So no, you are not being strict. Unless the character gains 7 levels or has a tonne of cash, they aren't following the rules.

  • The guide seems to be aimed at attendees, rather than organizers and media. If someone is showing up to add their voice to the protest, then leaving their phone at home is an ideal way to minimize their footprint.

  • We allocated $1.3b in early December as a response to Trump's initial tariff threat.

Monday’s 270-page budget document outlined key new expenditures including C$1.3 billion for border agencies over six years, an attempt to avert Trump’s threat of 25% tariffs unless the flow of migrants and fentanyl over the crossing is halted.

    We budged.

I don't think it was the wrong choice, but I don't think it had the desired effect.

  • Framework isn’t sharing any idea of pricing today, beyond that it will be “lower cost” compared to the Framework Laptop 13, which typically starts at around $750 for a DIY model with previous-gen chips or $1,100 for a prebuilt with the latest ones.

I really hope they can get the price low. I briefly looked at Framework in the fall, but I couldn't justify the price.

  • I played a game where we fought a lieutenant of the BBEG. He was a wizard, so we tossed Silence on him and nailed him with a bunch of other stuff.

The DM mentioned he was trying to say stuff as he died, but who cancels Silence on a wizard you just killed?

  • It's hard to know what to do.

I'm concerned about climate change. I spent 20 years not driving, buying locally, going to protests, organizing my local political party, avoiding flights, and trying to work for NGOs.

It kinda sucked. I missed out on things. I didn't have much money. I spent time trying to figure out how to do the right thing. I didn't have a car, so getting around sucked. My stuff sucked because I thrifted.

When I had kids, I went mainstream. I got a car. Started traveling on my vacations. Bought stuff new. Got a job with a corporation. Life is so much easier. The only thing I miss is volunteering.

I still vote my conscience, and try to buy sustainably, but I did my time. I'm done sacrificing my quality of life while assholes are living it up.

  • In our brief testing, we’ve not noticed any direct user-facing changes with this latest update. This update also doesn’t address a “reboot” issue that made headlines last week despite affecting a very small number of users.

  • IIRC only individuals can donate federally - organizations might be able to donate, but if they can, the limit is a free thousand bucks.

Companies do work around the limits by getting people to donate (line xEO's families), but those are typically in the tens of thousands, not millions.

The Conservatives recorded 211,000 donors, with an average contribution of around $198. The Liberals received donations from more than 118,000 people who gave $128 on average and the NDP saw almost 60,000 donors chip in an average of $105 each.

    From CTV.

  • Daaaaaaamn

Unfortunately fundraising and a popular leader/message are self reinforcing: mo money means mo ads means mo support means mo money. The Conservatives are snowballing while the other parties aren't even getting their message out.

  • Ashton said the NDP has wandered away from its base in favour of messaging with broad political appeal.

He pointed to the party focusing on the cost of groceries instead of improving wages or protecting jobs from automation.

"What are we doing to increase wages? What is the NDP doing to protect jobs?" Ashton said.

Ashton said unionized workers need a more aggressive NDP leader who isn't afraid to vote against the governing party if they advance anti-worker policies.

  • This is good advice. Ignore your reptilian hind brain and act like the person you want to be.

Yeah, sometimes you'll need to stop and think about your options before making a decision, but you'll be better for it.
