  • Owning Vizio would give Walmart access to an active user base of nearly 18 million people and help unlock Vizio's own software platform business that has annual advertising revenues growing north of 27% at a more than 60% margin rate, said Nicholas Zangler, an analyst at Stephens.

  • They're taking their upcoming DLC's name "Vessel of Hatred" too literally.

  • Step 1: Release cool FOSS apps and gain popularity.

Step 2: The apps are still FOSS, but now most of the cool features are actually proprietary and running on the company's servers. <--- we're here right now

Step 3 (soon-ish): "Since our customers love our proprietary features so much, we're no longer maintaining our FOSS version. Subscribe to our new pro subscription to continue accessing the apps"

  • Winget actually has quite a shitty history and you could put WinGet into the meme above. It's basically a clone of an open source package manager called AppGet. Microsoft reached out to AppGet developer to hire him and make the tool official, but somewhere in the process ended up ghosting him for 6 months before suddenly releasing WinGet, copying most of AppGet features.

If we're going to speculate why Microsoft did him dirty, the AppGet dev also made Sonarr (a popular "arr" tools) and someone at Microsoft probably killed the deal because they don't want to be seen hiring the dev of a popular tool in piracy community.

  • They are usually released for CUDA first, and if the projects got popular enough, someone will come in and port them to other platforms, which can take a while especially for rocm. Apple m series ports usually appear first before rocm, that's show how much the devs community dislike working with rocm with famous examples such as geohot throwing the towel after working with rocm for a while.

  • Everyone know old-school ghosts are white while RGB ghosts are modern innovation in the ghost world /s

  • I wonder why people do this. You wouldn't apply to a welding job if you can't weld. Why so many people apply to programming positions if they can't actually code (or a database analyst position without knowing SQL)?

  • Those are app platforms, so I guess they price it that way to discourage certain bandwith intensive usage.

  • It's actually pretty big if it weren't for the lawn and driveway.

Uh, blocked sidewalks is the least of their concern if they live in these 1 bedroom houses. Where's the child going to sleep? In one of the two baths?

  • It won't stop bad actors, but it'll allow AI companies to cover their asses to avoid being blamed for misuse of their tech, which is one of the reason I think most AI companies will use it soon.

  • Side by side or facing each other?

  • Bottom right seems to be able to squeeze two cars.

  • It could still grow even more as they haven't opened registration to all countries yet.
