  • Maybe not a warrant, and IANAL, but government agencies aren't necessarily at liberty to share information amongst themselves. For instance, IRS needs a court order to share returns with law enforcement (IRC Section 6103(i)(1)).

But yeah...this seems like maybe not a super great solution...

  • I mean Dexter Holland has a PhD in molecular biology, but if you're dropping into a half pipe you're probably more likely to be listening to Smash than to his dissertation on tape...

Different contexts. She can run like stink (as in, fastest in the world), and I don't see how that takes away from her academic achievements.

  • There were stories going around about how Trump claimed to have been in an emergency helicopter landing with Willie Brown, the (Black) former mayor of San Francisco. Willie Brown denied this.

So...I actually think the headline makes sense, and is kinda funny, but the context is definitely important --- Trump confuses a short Black politician from SF with a tall Black politician from LA.

  • Yep, a Model Y Long Range would make a lot of sense for us as our next car. But it is absolutely not being considered. Not only do we not want to give the company our business, but I'd be too embarrassed to be seen in one...and this is coming from someone with a missing hubcap on their 20yo econobox.

  • to identify I'm a citizen.

It's kinda worse than that --- it's used to authenticate yourself as a citizen.

My SSN should at most be an ID, no different from a name. I can identify myself as Darth Vader or 4200-69-1337, but that shouldn't matter, because I should never be able to authenticate myself as either of those.

  • I just checked, and the company website page on my relatively high end carbon bike has a listed max weight (rider+bike+equipment) of 120kg. Easy enough to find on the page.

That said...were I close to that limit, I think I'd opt for a steel bike, or maybe titanium if I have the money. Carbon is amazing but its failure mechanism isn't pretty.
