Haha, totally, especially combined with the sounds of its evenly paced steps. I can see myself shuddering at that sound while hiding from them, crawling behind destroyed cars and other debris through dark and grey streets in a dystopian future...
/me snaps out of the daydream
I don't know if this fits your use case (you didn't describe what you want to achieve in detail), but commands that can possible help if the screen did lock (or turn off):
- Unlock the lockscreen:
loginctl unlock-screen
- Turn on the screen:
kscreen-doctor --dpms on
Haha, zypper up
is a nice one, didn't know that.
Pacman gets huge bonus points though for having a config option to turn to progress bar shown during package installation into a 'pacman' (letter c) chomping from left to right :)
(done by adding ILoveCandy
under the Misc
options in /etc/pacman.conf
)
I'm using a second hand Surface 6 Pro (bought for €300 or so incl. keyboard cover), now running Arch (with linux-surface kernel) with KDE.
Everything works great! :) Doubles as a handy little vacation laptop too, and makes me want a touchscreen on my next laptop!
Please feel free to ask ahead if you have any questions about experiences or whatnot.
Whether Siri actually stops listening or only stops responding remains an open question.
Out of pure curiosity, can I ask: what does this setup bring you? On top of a 2x27" setup or a 34"/38"/42"/etc ultrawide, for example?
Seconding this. MPD + ncmpcpp + an MPRIS plugin. With the latter I can control the music playback through global keyboard shortcuts and the system tray UI if necessary.
This is absolute gold. Thanks for sharing
Since you mention 'gaming' first, I'd say go for the X3D. Overclocking Zen3+ CPUs is hardly worth the effort anyway, you'll hit the point of diminishing returns real fast and hit thermal limits. Undervolting might give you better results though.
This is the best comment here.
So would you say that is unjust, seeing the massive effects and repercussions of this on society as a whole? As a father of a young girl I'm very happy to see more attention on this by news media.
I thought we domesticated wolves (now dogs) after we had passed our nomad phase and were in our settlement phase (which we are still in now). I'm not certain, but I think the mammoth was already extinct at that time.
Also, I think dogs were generally trained to bring anything of importance back to us. For example, dogs also bring back wounded or dead prey. They still do for hunters today. So I think it's a bit broader than what you're describing :)
Genuine interest, being an Arch user myself: why pick EndeavourOS over Arch? What does it do extra/differently?
AFAIK the 6700 XT is more than suitable for 1080p@60Hz. AMD themselves market it as a 1440p card. I think the 6600XT could suffice for your needs, it runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 65-70fps on ultra settings at 1080p to give you an idea. For future-proofability you could consider the 6700 XT though, since it has 12GB of VRAM (as opposed to the 8GB of the 6600XT) :)
I have the same issue, also using Jerboa v0.0.36.
