Lapce, an IDE written in Rust. It's nice and light compared to most IDE's, so I use it a bit on my aging laptop from 2015. However, it doesn't have the extension ecosystem or polish of my favored IDE, VS Code.

Just take the dive into fish. It used to have a lot of problems with incompatibilities, but that's been less of a problem lately.

I haven't found nushell to be that great as a day-to-day shell simply because it integrates poorly with other Linux commands. But when it comes to data manipulation, it is simply amazing. I'm currently (slowly) working on a plugin to query LDAP. The ldapsearch command uses the LDIF format, which is hard to parse reliably. Producing nushell data structures that don't need fragile parsing would be a boon.

Arrests are done by the police, not the DA, so that issue lies with the police. And as much of the rest of the article pointed out, the number of people who saw the inside of a prison cell for marijuana possession was small.

Here's a fact check that goes over her history as a prosecutor. Hint: it doesn't fit well into a single reductive sentence.

She didn't attend Bibi's Congressional political rally (it was mainly for the majority of Israelis who want Bibi gone), which is unusual for her. Then she punctuates her meeting with Bibi with this. Maybe it's just rhetoric. She will need to outline what sorts of consequences she's willing to impose on Israel.

This point is very underappreciated in many political corners, including Lemmy. It's taken decades of deft maneuvering, including by otherwise foes, to keep nuclear weapon proliferation under anything close to control. Trump's pull out of the JCPOA was an unforgivable act of self-sabotage by a man with an uneducated, brutish understanding of foreign policy. Likewise with other policies that are meant to ensure that non-nuclear countries don't feel like they need nukes and nuclear countries don't feel like they're in an arms race.

According to one recent poll, the number is 67%, and they didn't poll for a range of definitions of ceasefire to try to suss out exactly what that means. Like, many people would only accept a ceasefire that would more or less erase Hamas, but there is no sign of that happening. Instead, everything (including somewhat agree) was just lumped together to produce 67%.

I'm going to say the same thing that I said about the Polish incident. That incident only happened because Russia chose to attack Ukraine in an area directly bordering on another country. Izmail is also right across the border. I'll wait on more dependable sources for an investigation, and I'm certainly not agitating for an escalation on NATO's side. At the same time, if Russia's bombing campaign ultimately results in foreseeable casualties outside of the country, I put the blame on Russia. Ukraine has the right to defend itself.

I wonder how much of Congress is there on top of white privilege hires from rich mommy and daddy. Not to mention the sausage fest that is the presidency. Yeah, I'm sure that's almost all white men by merit alone. /s

He didn't really promise per se. He said in some interviews that he saw himself as a bridge candidate, but he never made a pledge. I assume he was trying to not make himself a lame duck president right out of the gate, which can make it difficult to pass policies.

Pretty much anything that substantially improves batteries will be huge. R & D money is pouring in and that likely means progress. Improvements could be felt in factors like environmental impact, weight, energy density, safety, and charge time.

She is pretty closely tracking Biden in match ups against Trump, so it is not clear whether voters are really distinguishing her yet.

Though unconstitutional, since the VP needs to be eligible to be president.

Yeah... I would put a lot more stock in that quote if Kamala Harris' poll numbers among Black women weren't relatively low for a Democrat. I'm sure some people will be upset, but if she is picked I know a lot of people will consider that a slap in the face in another way. Polls have shown for a long time that she's unpopular in a way that has nothing to do with race or gender. It would be handing the election to Trump almost as certainly as running Biden.
