question for the [#lemmy](https://universeodon.com/tags/lemmy) users and [#activitypub](https://universeodon.com/tags/activitypub) developers out there:
  • @jessel @lemmy @Gargron

Lack of [private] groups are one of the things keeping me from spinning up an instance, because the people I'd like to prise away from FB need that.
I know there are options, but the clearest way to having a backup admin is a managed service.
Local-only posts would be spiffy too, but groups should push the bar far enough

  • Discourse is adding ActivityPub support, and requesting feedback on their lemmy-inspired proposed spec for how it will work
  • @cypherpunks it's pretty limited, but that's logical when the aim is to get people into the garden. I expect this to be a fairly common thing moving forward.

Medium is taking more of a hybrid tack, but I could see Tumblr moving this direction when they fully announce their plans.

(I'm not saying it's bad ~ websites gotta traffic or there's no point)
