Don't mix the vinegar and baking soda, they just react with each other and cancel out (acid + base do that). I do a cycle with vinegar, the do another cycle with baking soda + detergent, and it works pretty well.
I've got a Eufy RoboVac 30 and until reading this post it didn't even occur to me to see of there's an app. Turns out there is, but we've never used it and never connected it to our wifi. We just hit the button to turn it on and it works just fine. It came with a remote that we can use to set a schedule but as far as I know it has no way to call home.
Congrats! I have such a hard time keeping my HR low while running. Last winter I added some stationary bike to my routine because it's much easier to control my HR over a long workout. I also only have 2x 33km in my marathon plan, I may need to add another, but I don't think I could keep it up for 6 months!
I very much prefer the front pocket vest to the backpack reservoir when running, it sloshes around a lot less. I also put about 1/8 tsp salt in each of the 500ml flasks for a little bit of electrolytes to prevent cramping on long runs.
Not at all, unless you have poor running form. Many people are able to run just fine for their entire lives, even running marathons in their 70s and 80s.
I listen to music. Sometimes I use Spotify's auto-generated playlists and find new things. I was also into the "Zombies, Run!" app for quite a while which is a zombie apocalypse story that unfolds as you run, and you get to listen to music in between story clips.

I use my Garmin as a fancy stopwatch, I don't find its analytics are particularly useful. My forerunner has literally recorded me running a half marathon in 1h 55m, but it predicts my half marathon time would be 3h 17m?
Maybe not so far as you think. Keep increasing the time you are running little by little, and before long you'll be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping.
Drag queens have the best names. My favorite from this season of RuPaul's Drag Race is Amanda Tori Meating.

At least 9 people have read it and upvoted. Nice job on running a marathon!
Calf stretches helped me a lot. Not just before a run but anytime throughout the day- put a daily reminder to stretch on your phone.
I also have a high HR when running, so I do HR training in the off-season on a stationary bike. It's much easier to control your HR and keep it low.
I have some wool performance shirts (minus 33 woolverino) and I want to make the switch for environmental reasons, but they don't seem to last as long as my polyester (some of which I've had for many years and still wear regularly).
I thought US Gov had their own email systems. When did they start moving officials' mailboxes to Microsoft?
When I started training longer than 10K, I was seeing signs of shin splints- tender shin bones and tight calves. I started running with calf sleeves and it made a lot of difference both in reducing the pain and helping me recover faster. I also started doing calf and ankle stretches (downward dog is the best for this!) and just in general I've adapted better to running over the last few years, so now I don't use the calf sleeves even though I'm running marathon distances.
I got an XPS 15 last year, running Kubuntu and I love it except for one design flaw. The wifi card will randomly disappear from the hardware inventory and the only thing that fixes it is a reboot. It's a $20 replacement part that should be user-replaceable... except for the fact that they soldered it to the motherboard for some inexplicable reason. So I'm stuck using a USB dongle wifi chip. But otherwise it's great (even plays Baldurs Gate 3 pretty well since the latest hotfixes).
Nope. Which is good because I hate snaps. A media player that can't play nfs-mounted media or a browser that can't read my remote KeePass file are just useless to me.
I've been using Kubuntu on my main laptop for a few years now, and I really enjoy having an environment that just works, doesn't get in my way, and I don't have to think about. That's just the way it should be.
The event draws over 25,00 participants and more than 300,000 spectators.
Saturday saw record highs fall in Rochester and in the Twin Cities.
The high at the Rochester Airport Saturday reached 90, breaking the previous high of 89 set on September 30, 2019.
Minneapolis also saw a new record high set on Saturday. Minnesota’s largest city saw the mercury rise to 88 Saturday, surpassing the record-high of 87 set back on September 30 of 1897.
Similar high temperatures are predicted Sunday in Rochester and in the Twin Cities. As a result of the forecast, the Twin Cities Marathon has been canceled.

I really want to see lemmy.world succeed, but I'm not sure how I can help make this happen. Maybe this thread can be used to organize some grassroots support for @ruud@lemmy.world and team so we can make sure they don't get burned out in the next few days. I have a network background but not much coding (although now would be a great time to learn!). I'm sure there's documentation that can be written, fundraising that can be done, and non-techy ways for the non-techy people to help. Post some thoughts below!
