Finally found a fix how to stop firefox downloading each PDF to your local drive
  • Wish that worked on the android version as well :(

  • MMO players blast "disgusting" $90 early access charge for WoW: The War Within - "We must say early and loudly that this is not okay"
  • Sure, it would've been better if they didn't add a three days head start but I still don't really think it's quite the catastrophy everyone makes it out to be.

It just won't affect me in any way. I don't rush to max level, don't care for world's first and so on.

So, meh, it just doesn't feel like it's THAT big a deal.

  • I just can't help feeling that this is a tad overblown..

I'm going to buy the expansion and sure it would be nice to be able to play it as soon as possible but I don't see myself paying extra for that

I dont have a problem with people wanting to though.

  • What's some good "turn your brain off" feel good books?
  • I usually stick to scifi but I do enjoy the likes of Dan Brown and Steve Berry. Fast paced historically ispired conspiracy mysteries or whatever you want to call them. It's just plain fun. :)

When it comes to scifi Betty Chambers writes something akin to comfort scifi. Her books are like a warm blanket, just cozy all around!

  • What are our feelings on mirrored Reddit content?
  • I had my accountsn mixed up, but one bot i blocked was bot@lemmit.online

  • What are our feelings on mirrored Reddit content?
  • Uh good question! It might have been on another account.. how do you find your blocklist?

  • What are our feelings on mirrored Reddit content?
  • Yeah, first thing I did was to block a few reddit mirroring bots. That cleared my All feed from a bunch of dead threads.

  • Am I strange for not loving Everything Everywhere All At Once?
  • I think that was part of why I didn't care for it all that much. At least no more than it felt like an OK movie.

It felt like it was trying too hard to be too many things and not really excelling at any of them.

  • SF written by women/POC/LGBT+ authors?
  • Anything by Becky Chambers really! Her Wayfarers (starting with The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet) and her Monk and Robot (starting with A Psalm for the Wild-Built) series are such cozy scifi!

  • What are you reading/listening to this week? (October 4th, 2023)
  • Still on Ancillary Mercy by Ann Leckie. It's pretty good but I'm starting to feel that it's now quite what I'm in the mood for at the moment. Going to finish it though since it is good and I've read the whole trilogy in a row.

I'm longing for some new Peter F. Hamilton though!

  • Introductions Thread
  • Yeah, it's a bit of a mess at the moment which also makes it a bit hard to know where to call home. You guys seem wholesome so far! :)

  • Heyo!

NorthernLightMountain here (the 20 character limit on display names made me shorten it since it's 21 characters long) and I figured I'd drop by to say hi!

My handle comes from the works of my all time favorite author, anyone know who?

I started out my Lemmy journey as a reddit expat and ended up over at Beehaw since I liked the sound of them focusing on being a safe and wholesome place. Now it's starting to sound like they'll split off from Lemmy completely and move on to some other platform due to the seriously lacking moderating tools.

So I've been poking about trying to find myself a new home base and you guys caught my eye. I love to read and the fact that you guys wanted to go for a cozy book-releated area sounded nice! Figured it would be worth giving it a shot at least. :)
