Your own cubicle? What a luxury.
  • This would be an upgrade to the open office hell I am currently in with no assigned seating and only built out to support 70% of workers assigned to the building. Parking is only able to hold about 40%. If you get in too late first you struggle to find a place to park only to park on the street a half mile away then you can't find a seat. Oh, and they track badge-ins as well as the times your computer is on the local network. If your computer isn't logged in long enough you get in trouble. This same company treated us like adults for many years before the RTO Mind Virus creeped into our executives brains. Many of my colleagues were fully remote going back to the early 90s.

It makes no sense. If the wanted to lose people it would be cheaper to just fire us and pay severance than to have a bunch of unmotivated employees giving no fucks about the work and screwing things up left and right. I've never seen the workplace so miserable and I hear similar stories from people at other companies as well.

  • What nearly "killed" you in 2024? How did/are you overcom(e/ing) it?
  • My work environment has gone to hell this year. First I was told to move across country on my own dime to keep my job. Then to report to the office 3x a week for no good reason only to have them close the office next to my new apartment forcing me to commute. Then I watched several people get laid off or demoted after moving for the job. Now we are to start reporting to the office 5x a week and there is no assigned seating and no guarantees that I won't be laid off or demoted next. I'm dealing with it this year by telling them to get stuffed and moving back home.

  • I hate cast iron so I am in favour of this.
  • Store bought modern bacon is loaded with sugars and that is what is causing the issues. I've found that the older the seasoning the lesser the impact. Still, just scrub off the stuck on bits with a chain mail and some hot water with a mild dish detergent then do a quick post-season on the stove and it's like it never happened.
