New York Times Interactive Feature — Why We Love to Get Lost in Games: The Enduring Appeal of Metroidvanias
  • Spent two years on and off on Simon's Quest before figuring out some of the hidden stuff that allowed me to get to the end and then beat the game. Hundreds of wasted hours killing those stupid zombies at night and talking to useless villagers during the day. What a shit designed game.

  • Trump spending freeze sticks Iowa farmers with millions in bills for conservation work
  • I don't live in Iowa but have a small farm and live surrounded by farmers and ranchers. You have to understand that these people have the tiniest of perspective to the world. They spend almost their entire lives on one property, rarely go anywhere due to the nature of farming, and constantly have right-wing radio on in the truck and the barn and fox news on at home. You combine that with limited education across multiple generations and you have a group of people perfectly suited to consistently buy into propaganda and almost never able to identify things that will eat their face in the end.

  • Guess the Episode [Hard]
  • Aww. I was hoping it was payday and a wonderful day... Until he realizes he's paying the bear patrol tax.

"Let the bears pay the bear tax! I pay the Homer tax!"

    "That's the homeowners tax "

  • Computers unleashed economic growth. Will artificial intelligence?
  • This should be corrected to something like: "We thought Facebook and Twitter would unleash economic growth and a new golden age for humanity. It didn't. Will it be the same for AI? Yes."

Too long for a headline but would be a good way to write an article pointing out that the main point will be to have AI write more shitty ads for Facebook and Twitter albeit while you wade through ads between prompts on chatgpt.

Because like all the others... It isn't really providing any value... Just low end schlock and garbage... So what are we going to do to make money for execs and shareholders? Oh I know!! Ads!! And subscriptions!!

    Edit: typo

  • Do I want to know what’s going on?
  • That's what feels different for me this time. Before I took a break and came back fine. This time ... I just don't know... Every day is worse.

And that's WITH limitations on social media, getting outside more, medication and spending more time with family.

(It's like the therapist scene from Office Space)
