I had a more new users (for example people who want to migrate from Google) in mind. Yes this is a privacy issue but I'd say this makes proton more mainstream and good for ex-Googlers.
I think this is the major feature that proton is missing that Google has. Given how big proton has become, I'd like to suggest proton to implement something like this for the ultimate Google like experience but with a trusted company.
@lunar_dust_463@mstdn.social They want you to use an OS which doesn't provide firmware updates and therefore doesn't protect you from serious known vulnerabilities. The firmware is still present when using an OS not updating it. Pretending as if the hardware and firmware isn't closed source by not...
They say that GNU is spreading misinformation and "stop getting info from charlatans"?
Well they couldv'e given the FOSS alternatives along with the play apps, now only play apps can be installed from the official appstore
Because their official appstore has Google play store but not any other FOSS alternatives...
But what about endorsing play store when alternatives are available? Yes it's sandboxes but then also other more open solutions exists
I was saying wouldn't endorsing play store as an approved appstore is bad? Especially there are FOSS alternatives
Firmware I get. But they also endorse play store too
But play store is the only blob that is directly endorsed by devs
