Trudeau did not fail to bring in proportional representation. He campaigned with the intention of bringing in ranked balloting. Instead of forcing it through when he could, he sent it to committee where no consensus was reached. Instead of compromising with a small improvement the NDP flat out refused anything but proportional representation. With ranked balloting the NDP would consistently win more seats than they do now and we would have more minority governments where compromising would result in more progressive legislation.
That is a very interesting fault line just to the right of the center of the image. Makes you wonder what the cause and timeline were. Where did the rock layers on the right side end up?
One party in Canada always has reduction of taxes as a major campaign promise. To be elected you can not inform voters that maintaining or increasing services will require higher taxes so we suffer with reduced services. The world needs to resume taxing businesses and the oligarchy.
Committee stalemates in a minority government angers a significant number of voters because nothing ever gets done. There will always be a group opposed to whatever the current government does. One group seems to complain more often than the others. If the Conservatives were in power would you have the same complaint if they stacked committees?
Why don't they make a list of questions that they know he can't publicly answer? "Mr Prime Minister, do you think that Donald Trump is a Russian puppet?"
Canadian's are not using euthanasia as an alternative to any treatment, that is either a lie or intentionally misleading. The recipient of MAID in Canada has to request the procedure and be approved by two physicians. The people pushing defunding healthcare are conservative provincial governments who want to enrich their corporate donors.
Why is there no discussion on splitting the difference and changing time zones by half an hour? If Newfoundland can survive being half an hour off from its neighbors there shouldn't be any arguments against it.
If some parts have to be ordered 15 years in advance you can not pin the purchase on a specific Prime Minister. We need to remove money from corporate donations from our political system, there should not be any influence permitted.
The US oligarchs complaining they should get part of the tolls can avoid paying tolls by using the other bridge. If they want tolls from the Gordie Howe they can pay Canada for building it or shut up.
My goodness it seems that the President is off his medications again. The pressure shown to foreign child predators in the Epstein files is making him feel vulnerable.
