  • Either they are suspending operations until they are out of the press spotlight, until they find a new CEO to take over, or until everyone in the company starts a new company doing the same thing under a different company name.

Do I feel bad for those who worked there? Maybe, most of them chose to work at that company and continued to let the CEO continue on, but everyone has to make money somehow.

  • Not using my real name on any social media profiles except LinkedIn (so potential employers don't think I'm weird), posting at random times of the day, commenting on something not related to the country where I live, using email alias (and multiple ones), never posting a picture of my real face.

  • As of today (29 June 2023), Port forwarding is not offered for new customers as part of the Pro plan. Further, existing IVPN Pro customers cannot reserve new ports. Existing reservations will stay in place, and can be disabled by manual action.

We are disabling all reserved ports and completely remove this feature from our service on 30 September 2023.

  • Canada @lemmy.ca

    Canada's population reaches 40 million

  • Having the book available through an early reviewers program (that's how I've discovered a couple of author I didn't know of), having the book on sale (there are many sites which pick on books that are on sale) or promoting the book through social media (TikTok seems to be very popular right now).

  • I think because it's a medical environment, masks should be worn at all times (except when eating, drinking or alone). You don't know how sick someone passing you may be, and by masking you reduce it. I know many people are tired of hearing that and having masks, but it's been proven to save lives and reduce more people catching something.

I continue to wear my mask at all times anywhere indoors (that isn't my own home) as you don't know where someone has been (or if they are sick and don't know it).

Let's please respect everyone's choice and don't get mad at someone who may still choose to wear a mask.

  • Honestly I don't know, if you have a variety of content (including different lengths of movies / tv shows) then it's hard to figure out how long you could stay entertained.

I think the better question is if during the past quarantine you used any of the content you have downloaded, I don't think I watched any since there were tons of new content coming out.

  • Anybody can create a Google Play Store account like that (and link to any website and say it's registered under a company), many Chinese companies do it.

Regarding searching for the app, I did search for lavabit vpn and duckduckgo didn't show a github account.

  • There's nothing on the Lavabit website (or elsewhere that I could reliably confirm) that say they (Lavabit) have a VPN. I could always be cautious when using a new VPN (including one that is free) or one that isn't listed on the company website.

  • Literature @beehaw.org

How do you find books you want to read?

  • I'm using LibraryThing because of all the books listed (including the ability to add new books) as well as their early reviewers program (I've gotten a number of good books from that).

While I also have accounts on Goodreads and BookWyrm, right now I only use them to add books I've read and leave a review.

  • I noticed the same thing with a local school in Canada.

It could be because kids aren't within "walking distance" any more, could be because the kids have something to do right after school, could be less bus drivers (because who wants to put up working 4 hours per day for minimum wage dealing with all those kids), or finally just the culture has changed (to driving everywhere).
