The issue was for a desktop app. As far as I know windows doesn’t have such a feature.
Edit: Win11 introduced a gif option. As far as I know every big chat app for desktop that supports gifs has a extra pop up for gif selection: teams, discord, rocket chat
This feature was requested for the matrix client on desktop. A workaround mentioned was the macos gif keyboard. There have been multiple implementations by users, mine included, but all of them where rejected because of privacy concerns and that the core team hasn’t decided how they wanted it to be designed.

Es sind ja mal wieder Amazon Prime days, und die Angebote sind natürlich auch wie immer nicht viel besser als sonst. Mir ist immer wieder aufgefallen das viele Produkte bei Amazon dauerhaft “reduziert” sind. Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen dass das erlaubt ist. Würde mich interessieren ob hier jemand mehr Ahnung zu dem Thema hat.
This is a great idea but I see problems with it. Someone has to define the topics but this can be done by name matching. The bigger problem is the decentralized nature of Lemmy. Every server has to scan every other server for the communities to create a topic. Now let’s say we have 10 servers and each of them will have to fetch from the other 9 servers the communities list. This would already be 90 requests sent global. Now scale this up to 1000 and a single server will have to send 999 requests and respond to 999.

No, for the time. I like the idea but i see a lot of issues that hopefully get fixed in the future. For example the existence of 5 communities with the same name. Where do I join? it makes things more inconvenient. Finding communities is hard without 3rd party websites. If I search on my instance for a community that is on a different one I would like it to be shown as a search result and not having to get the URL and paste it in. Time will hopefully fix all these problems and Ill invest some time of my own to add features to this platform.
