Ubuntu is the common bistro that everyone gets started on. Lots of advanced users continue to use it, because it works well.
Use Ubuntuor Mint or Pop_OS (both of which are modified varieties of Ubuntu). Watch some Youtube videos to compare them. Pop_OS is supposed to be particularly good for gaming, but I'm not sure why
there's only so long that you can decry ubuntu due to the sins of its past.
