  • Something similar happened in Michigan where they put a computer program, Midas, in charge of fraud detection for unemployment insurance.

It improperly accused like hundreds of people of fraud and forced them to pay these huge penalties, thousands of dollars, or go to jail I believe, and even after they found out it was faulty they still tried to deny it so they did not have to admit a mistake just like in the British post Scandal you are referring to.

All done by people that wanted to get rid of unemployment insurance completely but couldn't so were trying to deny it to people that qualify for it. And they all get away scot-free despite knowingly sticking innocents with fraud charges.

  • Something similar happened in Detroit a couple years ago or so. The facial recognition software flagged some guy that looked nothing like the suspect and they arrested him and it took a long time before the cops admitted they made a mistake.

  • Fighting battles in a real war and intercepting civilian ships and international waters and killing everybody on board is not the same thing. It is an incredible argument to compare storming the beaches at Normandy with shooting a small boat out of the water in the Caribbean right now.

  • There are a number of endocrine disruptors they use not just the one you mentioned,. Consumer Reports has looked at it. But it is also bad for tourist areas that have a lot of swimmers like coral reefs, all the sunscreen washes off and fucks up the animals.

  • I have been brewing my own for a few years now, drinking moderately every day this year all homebrewed for the most part. It is so much cheaper. And less running to the store. Plus there is no record of you being a frequent user of alcohol when you brew it yourself. Which in the US could very well be used against you on me law enforcement Information Network they use.

  • Oh that is not so bad I was led to believe it was much higher even in the bars. You would be hard pressed to find beer for less than four or five dollars a bar now in the US. A little less than $2 a beer in the store for high quality IPA, 20 bucks for 12. I brew my own though.

  • Yeah I read the article, I was just adding the part about the endocrine disruptors cuz that's what I care about. It said an American company actually had guy go to jail for faking results at some point.

The mineral sunscreens also do not rub in at least the ones I have gotten. So a lot of people won't want to use them.

  • Idk about that companies that use toxic stuff always deny its toxic, then if forced to admit it's toxic say it is in amounts too small to affect you.

I certainly would not take their word for it or people they pay to say so.

It has real effects on coral reefs and other areas where people swim and have it wash off in. And there are a range of endocrine disruptors in lots of goods that do have real effects on people even if not quite noticeable. Amphibians are particularly sensitive to them and can wipe out populations in the low parts per billions.
