The old galaxies were really good. I remember s3 being the first experience with a flagship device.. it felt really advanced for the time. It sucks that now samsung has implemented knox security or whatever to detect bootloader unlocked devices. That's the reason why I switched to a Oneplus phone and gave my last samsung to my dad.

I also remember touchwiz being an absolute lag fest, back in the day. Cyanogen was the OG savior !

If you want to install any apps go with Flatpaks for reliability. Since Ubuntu has snaps, install the snap variant of available. Imo Flatpaks have greatly reduced the number of issues like dependency problems for me.

Have you tried any other distro ? I'd recommend any of the universal blue projects or fedora silverblue as it is relatively maintainance free and just like using windows/macos. If you game just go with Bazzite, otherwise try Aurora/Bluefin. In most cases you won't even have to use the terminal that much, but if you do they have really nice cli tools too.

If you still want to go the traditional approach - Arch based distros can also be very good, ateast you will be able to find answers on the archwiki and try those solutions. It's not like Ubuntu is bad, it's kind of janky sometimes and I kind of liked the conveince of finding all that I need within the archwiki. Arch has fast updates, so things will break once in a while.. however my experience has been really good with arch for many years now. if you want to try it then go with either EmdavourOS or CachyOS - both are setup quite well out of the box.

TL;DR - try Flatpaks, try low maintenance distros like Bazzite and use it like you normally do.

For ps2 there is pcsx2 and for ps1 you could try retroarch.

Oh yeah forums are pretty cool. It's like a massive treasure chest you can sort through. I still enjoy using a few forums like Gamerfaqs and XDA developers.

Niche communities are awesome ! Sadly reddit is still the king in this aspect.

Maybe in a few years lemmy will reach that level or even surpass it... One can dream.

I agree with what you are saying. What I really meant is that every community should have some amount of people who think differently and see things from a different perspective. This can help widen the variety of posts, comments and even sources used for citations.

For instance, here on lemmy I've noticed a tendency for people to see things from a political viewpoint and don't hesitate to start a flame war in the comments. Maybe the average user will feel more welcome to express their opinions if they see that the existing users are open minded. Thankfully most communities I'm a part of are very nice, more so than their reddit counterparts.

I hope more active users move to the fediverse. That way we will have a lot of variety in content and can also potentially prevent communities from becoming echo chambers. I suppose moderation will also have to be taken up a notch for these changes to actually have a positive effect.

Honestly this has been my daily driver for the past 6 months or so.

I really like it. The aesthetics are really modern, while still maintaining all the things I like about firefox.

My friends who are less tech literate swear by brave. I think it's the way they market their browser... Some of Brave's core audience don't want to install a third party extension for adblock (either they don't like third party or they just don't know they can do it in other browsers)

Also on opening a new tab, they show the stats of how much data they saved and how much ads it blocked. Some people like seeing the number grow.

All this is my speculation. There may be some other reason for it being this popular.

In my experience the only times I've had a stable experience was

• when I actually only installed packages I needed i.e using a window manager instead of a DE (and no bloat packages which I'll eventually lose track of)
• using an atomic distro, my favourite so far has to be bluefin which is part of the Ublue project based on Fedora Silverblue. NixOS is also great but it gives me the urge to pointlessly tinker instead of getting actual stuff done.

In the past I've seen flatpaks and containers as bloated and messy solutions which tainted my computer but now that I've tried it, It's actually very convenient.

I've always installed a crap ton of packages for gaming which turns into this inevitable mess, but with containers I just use bazzzite-arch and be done with it. It wraps all my gaming packages in one neat container.

I finished Yakuza 7 last year after post game depression of Yakuza 6... Needless to say I was depressed but significantly happier than when I completed Y6.

Is that the one where the main character tries to develop a girl into an ideal heroine for his novel or something along those lines ?

Re life, kmi no nawa and bunny girl senapi gave me depression for a short while back in the day. Boko no Kokoro no yabai yatsu was probably one of the better ones to come out in recent times.

I also think I watched the first 2 episodes of Kaicho wa Maid Sama a long time ago... I almost forgot it existed.

Hiscore girl, tsuki ga kirei and Spice & wolf are in my never ending watch list, thanks for reminding me again. As for gosik, it's my first time hearing about it... Will check it out tho.
