    ROF Bot Testing

  • It's buggy as hell right now. I've been working with OP to refine the model, but we need a better clip.

The FAN going wrrrh in the background is tripping up detection.

I have 3 modes i'm testing right now. Happy to share more. But I pulled a ton of clips from reddit for testing.

  • A Gen 3 Glock 19 isn’t super hard.

A harlot is a pretty common first build.

Pocket Pleaser (Ruger LCP) can be fun too.

  • Brother... that's not how CNC machines work.

You need the CAD files... You can then generate G-Code for your specific CNC machine...

You also can't really rifle a barrel on a mill. You'd need to do ECM or use a button...

Buy a complete upper online. Print a frame. Buy some rails. Buy a LPK and some magazines online too. If you can't do all that, maybe this ain't for you.

  • Yeah I'm gonna update it. Good catch.

  • "Bump stock" means any device or instrument for a firearm that increases the rate of fire achievable with the firearm by using energy from the recoil of the firearm to generate a reciprocating action that facilitates repeated activation of the trigger.

Our opinion on that is that "recoil" is the mode of operation. Hence why we sell to NJ.

If you were to bolt the rifle to a bench rest or similar - a bump stock would not work, but a super safety would.

Recoil is the impulse of the whole rifle backwards - not the gas system pushing the BCG backwards.

Map of FRT Legality State by State

  • The plates are .04" and .063" together they get to .13" which is enough to engage the cut-trigger. You'll stack them on each other on the rods.

I'm working on a detailed photo guide. Stay tuned for that!

  • I'm running a simple cron-based reddit to Lemmy bridge over at !bazaar@fosscad.io to pull from r/gundeals - it doesn't do comments right now. It also only pulls posts with a certain number of upvotes. It's a bit noisy, and we don't have OP/commenters available on Lemmy for a good discussion.

I've written more advanced mirroring scripts for re-uploading archives of r/fosscad to !ark@fosscad.io

My concern with two-way mirroring would be Rule 7 violations in comments on Lemmy, getting mirrored to Reddit, and causing bans.

I think we should encourage people to join us here, as much as possible, while keeping the subreddits alive enough to be an on-ramp to the GCI/Fosscad Lemmy instances.

  • So I don't have a guide for assembly of the parts kit yet.

But I do have an install guide for the Super Safety (full kit) - you would still follow this after printing the cam components and lever, and assembling the cam.

    https://greysummitgear.com/guides/install/

  • $60 for the raw components is asinine.

Yeah I have 600 rounds through one cam. No issues yet. I melted a PLA lever around 450 rounds suppressed and gassy, started making them from PA6-CF after that.

I'm in discussions with a metal finishing shop to coat the grade 5 titanium to further increase wear resistance. Might increase the price by a few bucks, but should be bulletproof after that.

Man Faces Machine Gun Charges for Owning a Forced Reset Trigger

  • Yeah they have language on "gifts" and effectively a download link can be constituted as a transfer.

They actually say you can't gift, sell, or transfer 3D print files or instructions under the new rules...

    So that alone kills r/FOSSCAD.

  • FWIW - I don't disagree with you.

That said, banning a community without warning - for rules that were changing but not yet announced is uncool.

Personally, I'm dealing with the same de-platforming from eBay. They don't like gun parts very much, but their rules are frustratingly vague at times. Hard to sell. And the traffic on eBay is hard to give up.

Granted, it's their private business and therefore their decision.

The more annoying issue is that it's a public company in the case of Reddit, so their rule changes are more rooted in public opinion. Which is the larger issue imo.

Armed Defender Research doing some field testing for us.

  • How do you do rifling at home? Is it that electrolysis thing I see? Or something more forceful?

  • I think it'll be a race to the bottom.

!bazaar@fosscad.io is pulling from r/gundeals now.

There is no reason folks cant set up a WTB/WTS community themselves on lemmy. The only thing missing is the audience/community

Not great to split a community, but website development takes time. And people want a GAFS replacement now... patience will only last so long.

My bet is they'll come around to lemmy. Especially as a lot of GAFS people are probably also in FOSSCAD and vice versa.

  • I'm uploading from 2022 to June 2025 right now. 43k posts :)

    Will do the comments next.

I was able to save 73.7% of the photos. Some breakage is bound to happen sadly - deleted posts, etc.

  • I have 600 rounds on one cam. Overall the epoxy makes it lighter and stronger. The titanium has no visible wear.

I have a gassy suppressed .300blk build. Managed to melt a PLA+ lever after 450 rounds.

Haven't had the same issue with PA6-CF levers.

I think reducing gas and timing is more important with printed levers than metal.

But once you do that is pretty solid imo.

I have to drive pretty far to test sadly.
