  • workable

No. It would require guillotining all billionaires, dissolution of a shit ton of wasteful industries (AI for example), vast reduction of meat consumption (which also means closing large parts of the meat industry) ...

Basically it requires the rich and powerful to not be rich and not be powerful anymore

  • Is it realy so incomprehensible to see how useful it is? I feel like most people in this threat just close their eyes and scream. Yes you can call, yes you can find a different solution to every problem. But it is still fucking convenient to just know where somebody is without you having to ask them having to actively respond.

  • There's no upside

    • Know when they come home or if they are stuck in traffic
    • "oh you are still in the store can you get me ..."
    • security if they get kidnapped

It is insanely useful to know where your partner is. It is not necessary. It is still useful. I would not allow my partner 24/7 location information. It is still useful. I don't trust any app/manufacturer that allows such a feature. It is still useful.

  • Its an exaggerated non-issue

Linux is not a uniform userbase. Many systems will be affected by this. Many users will be fine because they use a well used and maintained distro. Many servers and embedded systems will not be fine.

That raspi running your pihole that is never updated? Yeah that might just stop booting next time there is a poweroutage and you wouldn't know what's up.

  • Yeah most billionaires are billionaires because they own a company worth a lot. So their wealth is to a large part based on "what would they get when they sell the company". Beyonce is herself the "company" but there is no evaluation for how much it is worth to be Beyonce. She can get a lot of very expensive things for free just for beeing herself. And how much could she earn by "selling out"? Wealth estimations just don't make sense at this level

  • Work as a waiter

  • Drinking alcohol habitually is called alcoholism. Any time the consumption of alcohol is a fixed part of your day, you are already over the line. A beer with every dinner? Shots with friends/coworkers after work every day? That's alcoholism.

  • more than a few drinks a week

More than 0. There is no save amount of alcohol. But almost nothing we do is save. Go outside in the sun? Cancer! Eat fat/sugar? Heart/Liver failure! Stress from work and doomscrolling? Depression and anxiety!

Choose your poison, but know it is poisonous! Cheers 🍻

  • Well if you operate a death machine it would be realy nice if you could follow the rules and not kill somebody. Of course the rules should be reasonable but being unable to follow them means you should not be operating a death machine

  • You most likely pay for a maximum CPU capacity and your Server cant go above that no matter what you run. Your vps provider doesn't care what that CPU power is used for.

However with limited resources, the tarpit might use up all CPU power and the rest of the webserver will crawl to a halt.

  • Well a lot of people who got one were actively involved in a war or would be not to long after receiving the price.

Also Hitler was nominated for a Nobel peace price. Yes it was by a Swedish anti-fashist as satire/protest, but Trump wouldnt understand satire.

  • Its not about "just having a signature". Its about a web of trust. It only works if you verify if the key belongs to a creator that is actually a person.

Basically creators go to a convention and hand out their public key in person and have other creators sign their key. If you trust creator A is real and they signed the key of creator B, you can have some trust B is also real. And if your buddy went to the convention, met A and B, got their public keys and tells you they are real you can also trust they are real. The more steps/signatures you are away from a creator the less trustworthy they are and nothing really ensures a (human) creator doesn't use AI secretly. If somebody is found to be a fraud everyone has to distrust their key.
