what is the most "above your station" thing you have ever experienced?
  • In most countries you are taxed note the more you earn, so two people earning 60k is MORE than 1 person earning 120k.

Taxes are paid in brackets and having two independent incomes makes each one fill their own lower bracket before going for the upper ones.

It does make a difference, in Spain for example nowadays even married couples fill taxes separately because it's just not worth it tax wise to join incomes.

  • Hear something, say something
  • I have a lot of jokes where my friends don't find them funny. But there's always a punch line, some smart wordplay, terrible pun, even if they feel like it's too forced (smh).

Racists do know that openly saying that "minorities being abused is funny" sounds racist as fuck, so they try to avoid explaining their jokes.

  • Too soon?
  • Agree that we should have good enough public education to have critical thinking but disagree that it's its responsibility to do it, if the government won't its the citizen's responsibility, because in the end, if they don't take care it will be them who suffers.

I'm all in to facilitate such with proper education but it's the responsibility of each one to be informed.

  • Too soon?
  • Well, that too of course, 100% agree. There was no shortage of "please don't abstain" posts around here and other social media I follow. I always preach that even if you don't like any party, voting what you dislike the least is extremely important, alongside whatever movent you want to do in the future to change the electors. I'm from Spain and I alloy the same way of thinking around here too, just voting might not be very effective, but whatever extra should be done, ALSO vote. O accept whatever result since that's what abstaining is.

  • Too soon?
  • Don't care, it's the citizens responsibility to be informed.

Not knowing that murder is ilegal doesn't make it legal. Not knowing circulation laws or law changes doesn't let you avoid a fine. It's the resposability of the people that participate in society, in driving, in a democratic process, to be properly informed. If they decide not to inform themselves they must abide by the consequences of their actions.

  • Too soon?
  • A vote not cast mathematically is equivalent to vote to the winner. There are tons of reasons one might have to abstain, but it's their responsibility to acknowledge that them not voting against the winner helped the winner win. Now, if they don't care that's another matter, but that they facilitated the winner to win is true.

  • If Harris Loses Today, This Is Why
  • Given that Democrats pulled less votes than 2020, it's not the undecided between D&R that decided this election, it's the ones undecided between D or not voting. As stupid of a choice that is, those are the ones that voted way less in this election, and those voters maybe would have voted more if the platform was more anti-elite. I don't know how many swingers would pass to R with that move, though.

Really stupid to not vote in protest because D is not left enough since that mathematically is equivalent to voting the winner, in this case R. In any case, going more left might have helped more.

  • How is it that "protecting basic democracy and the rule of law, and not crowning a criminal dictator" wasn't even on the chart?!
  • Bro, in don't care how bad Harris is/was. If you prefer trump to her, it's on you.

As always, mathematically not voting is equivalent to voting for the winner, since it's a vote that didn't change the result. So yeah. The above statement rings true.

  • Simple fix on KDE wayland for windows to remember their last position

Thanks to /u/azvasKvklenko@sh.itjust.works for mentioning KDE window rules. In KDE, we can add rules for windows so that they behave in specific ways. One rule that can be added is the position: remember rule, and it's possible to make that rule apply to all windows by removing the match field. This way, closing and reopening windows keeps them where they were.

This is a very typical complaint about wayland that a lot of people have, something that apparently worked natively with X11 and annoyed me to no end since I had to position all the windows every day when logging into my desktop. No more! I hope this helps :)
