  • Questions for you and your upvoters: when you were growing up, did you climb a lot of trees that were way too high for you or did they have fences to keep you away from them? Were you required to wear a helmet while riding a bike? Were you even allowed to bicycle anywhere on your own? Did you ever have to figure out how something works on your own, or has it always been your default response to give up when someone isn't there spoon-feeding you the answers?

  • A google image search could have answered your question of doubt.

The visual is from the annual "Gift of Christmas" production at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Texas. It IS a church production.

Despite being a 40-year tradition at the church, the $1 million Broadway-style production has faced backlash for its extravagance in recent years. In the past, church leaders have justified the performance by explaining the miracle of Jesus’ birth warrants an over-the-top celebration. They told the Dallas Morning News last year, “Jesus deserves our absolute best. … It’s unfortunate that the perennial American tradition of the church Christmas program now draws criticism.”

  • Democrats tried to offer a single payer option. However, EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN voted against it, and as a result, it was possible for two Democrats, Dick Durbin and Joe Lieberman, to vote against it and force the removal of Single Payer and the Public Option from the bill.

And as a result, we get the BOTH SIDES SAME bullshit. Republicans stand firm and vote 100% against a bill, making it possible for 1 or 2 Democrats to derail it, and as a result, people get mad at Democrats as a whole and ensure Republicans keep getting enough seats to keep this strategy alive.

What's amazing is how well this works for Republicans. So many idiots in the world.

  • Someone programmed/trained/created a chatbot that talked a kid into killing himself. It's no different than a chatbot that answers questions on how to create explosive devices, or make a toxic poison.

If that doesn't make sense to you, you might want to question whether it's the chatbot that is mindless.

  • Because there is no magic sky magician letting kids die a gruesome leukemia death, while saving a specific plane because a special favorite person of his happens to be on board the aircraft. There's just physics and mechanics and pilots and things going right and things going wrong.

  • I'm sure the Republicans NEVER contact their Democratic representatives to complain or make their voices heard, so yeah, you shouldn't contact your Republican representatives. Never make your voice heard, what's the point right it's useless we are all so powerless oh god I give up you are all right downvote me we have no power THEY WIN!!

  • Oh right, because you did, all the other lemmings did as well, right? Please, spare me your righteous indignation. You actually think ALL the people constantly complaining how the system is rigged there's nothing that can be done, and all the BOTH SIDES SAME arguments seen in the majority of comments here, you think that these indicate lemmy is full of people who actively engage with their representatives? lol

See all the other replies to my comment to see examples of the thought processes i am referring to, of people who dont contact their reps.

  • Are you kidding? Are you telling me you had no idea they were holding votes constantly to reopen the government?? They held at least 14 votes my man. Each and every vote was the potential for "a deal". Clearly you never reached out to your representatives at least once during those 14 votes.

    Thanks for highlighting my point.

  • Hey, crazy question for any lemmings here whose Senator was one of the 8 who voted to end the shutdown:

Did ANY of you email your senator and tell them you fully support the shutdown and urge them to never give in until the health care provision was fixed?

Everyone in here bitching about Senators taking money, or both parties being the same, all the typical brain dead bullshit the keyboard politicos blather, did ANY of you contact your Senators and make your voice heard?

Don't bother replying. We all know the answer.

EDIT: Keep the downvotes coming, believers of our weakness! You've convinced me, we are all powerless!! Let's just complain all day in lemmy comments how the system is rigged and we have no power, downvote me if you agree! LONG LIVE APATHY! WE ARE THE WEAK AND POWERLESS!

  • Yup, the Republican party allowed Trump to go after the nomination, and his Republican opponents in the primaries never brought Jan 6 up for the disgusting act it was. Instead they all protected Trump by repeating the Big Lie.

Imagine Fox News right now, if Jan 6 had been Democrats and Obama. Seriously, they would be screaming for the dismantling of the Democratic party.

And that's the difference, the Left has NOTHING like Fox News and Newsmax, MSNBC doesn't even get CLOSE.
