Blue-light filtering glasses probably make no difference to eye strain – study
  • My new glasses had a blue light filter on them and I didn't know it. I can definitely say that I have an easier time falling asleep / having my eyes feel not strained because of it. For a year or so by now, I turn on the night light on my computer anyway, and that helps too. I am a programmer so I stare at the screen the whole day. It doesn't matter if it is placebo because I do feel the benefit and that's all I care about.

  • How common is it for atheists to be against homosexuality/abortion?
  • I am very similar and I agree with this, specially with the limited emotional energy. It is physically/mentally not possible to handle all the bad shit in the world; I only focus on those around me. For example, I only have one homosexual friend, but I never speak about sexual topics anyway so that never comes up. I will never take part in a gay pride parade, but I will also never stop it or oppose it. This goes on for many topics as well.

So yeah, fairly neutral on such topics, and prefer to stay neutral. Even for topics I don't agree on, I still try not to pick a side. "But you should be pro-X and pro-Y because of Z!", no, take my neutrality as a sign that I am not against your existance.

  • Are all calories created equal? Your gut microbes don’t think so.
  • Nice article but it doesn't really prove that calories are not equal. The article discusses how the calories get absorbed differently, but that doesn't mean the calories have changed or disappeared. Kind of misleading title.

  • So much this. Exploring this place at first felt a bit empty so to say. Not that much stuff to see or read. Now there's tons of comments, posts and upvote activity that makes this place feel fresh and alive now. FeelsGoodMan indeed, and we're the oned giving it life.
