  • That site is not considered to be completely trustworthy due to some virus infected downloads being found in the past. Just be sure to check for malware as you should be doing for all downloads.

  • That's good advice, thanks for letting people know.

  • Talk about blowing smoke up your own ass.

  • It's not just you 🙊 The official mirrors seem to be down too.

  • Since it's freely available on YouTube, on this occasion I won't enforce Rule 3. Don’t request or link to specific pirated titles

  • The issue isn't advertising per se, it's with so called targeted advertising aka surveillance capitalism. Meta could still legally serve ads in Norway so long as they are not individually targeted. You know, like all ads before Google and Facebook invented mass surveillance of internet users.

  • That would imply they are acting in good faith to protect their users. There must be another explanation because that one doesn't sound likely. 😆

  • They are streaming the Women's World Cup 2023 on BBC and ITV in the UK which you can access for free with a suitable VPN (results may vary as BBC in particular actively blocks them) or using something like Smart DNS Proxy which is a paid service, but it's cheap and in my experience much more reliable for accessing UK channels. See this page for the full schedule. You can also watch on 7Plus which is an Australian tv/streaming channel.

  • You should see some of the usernames I've seen reported from the sh.itjust.works instance. I'm not going to post any but it seems like there is no moderation of usernames at all as far as I can tell. Major oversight on their part.

  • To clarify, it's generally ok to post a link to a landing page of another site that contains download links. We just don't want any direct download links on here, for obvious reasons.

  • If it's a keygen then you should just assume it contains a virus and run it in a sandbox. You'll only need to run it once anyway to test the key.

  • Last warning, stop spamming posts just because you didn't like the answers.

  • I'm not sure it's a bot, but it's very questionable advice, and completely off topic. But I'm inclined to wait and see just how many downvotes it can accumulate just for the lolz 🤣

  • Thanks for the heads up, I've also send him a message on Matrix.

  • I agree, I don't think we need to wait for proof that Meta is a shitty company we want nothing to do with. That is hopefully already evident. If there was a way we could actually fuck things up for them by federating with them then it might be tempting, but I don't see how we could impact them in any meaningful way.

Also, if you think about it from a corporate risk management perspective, I think it's very likely they will adopt a whitelisting strategy and only federate with META-friendly, cherry-picked instances anyway. They aren't going to risk the embarrassment of being blocked by hostile instances.

In any event, my instinct is to preemptively block them to show solidarity with the other instances who signed up to the FediPact. Fuck Meta and everything they stand for.

  • Linking to a home page is totally fine, thanks for sharing.

  • I do miss the days when you could just download a keygen and get something licensed. Nowadays most keygens are just virus/malware installation packages unfortunately, with a few exceptions. To be honest it's probably easier and safer to just use one of the repacks from a trusted source since they are 'precracked' and that work has been done for you.

  • For those who don't know it's a direct download site from the Megathread. I suspect people are downvoting because they assume the name is just bot gibberish.

  • It's working fine for me. I have no idea what would cause that. Only thing I can think of is maybe if you have your qBittorrent (or whatever) bound to your VPN connection and you forgot to turn the VPN on?
