How is the Framework 13 comparability with Arch Linux?
  • I can only speak towards the 12th gen intel model but everything worked perfectly for me. I referred to their guide for fedora to get the necessary kernel parameters for the backlight keys and services for the fingerprint reader but it works flawlessly. I also recommend one of the community sound profiles to help with the speaker response if you have time to tinker with that

  • [Serious] How do you smoke weed indoors without odor
  • When I smoked I’d use an air purifier, with a window open and fan running, as well as using a sploof (slang for this might be different where ur from) and sometimes burning a candle. All those combined and being sure to dispose of your ash quickly should reduce the smell. Your best option is a dry herb vape though, and that’s better for your health too

  • What do you swear by?
  • Sugar alternatives like allulose and monkfruit have been making my life so much better recently. A little more pricey than sugar, but so much better for you and allows me to keep enjoying a sweet cup of tea in the morning without any of the downsides

  • CHROME (google) is planing to implement DRM (kinda) into their browser
  • I completely agree, but don’t forget that WebKit exists too on Mac and Linux with about the same market share as Firefox (at least based on w3school’s stats). Chrome/Blink dominate but all hope is not lost and there are more options, they’re just small. I think focusing on embracing Firefox/Gecko as it has so much momentum and community already is the most productive way forward though

  • What is the definition of capitalism? Is it compatible with people owning the things they produce?
  • Capitalism is a socioeconomic system in which private individuals (capitalists) own the means of production and employ others to work them. The employer exploits the employed through wage labor, a system in which the surplus value of a laborer is taken as profit for the capitalist. Capitalism is often characterized by market relations and generalized commodity production, but there are always exceptions as in any system.

  • My little brother loves the dualboot setup I installed for him. He says "It's like iOS"
  • It’s true, I’m somebody who has run DIY distros daily for years and decided to try out Debian on a spare computer recently. I couldn’t even update the system after the initial install. It took me like forty minutes to find a thread which explained to me that Debian 12 has a bug with some raspi firmware that requires you to delete three files before apt will work, and there is 0 indication on the paths themselves, just people who have figured it out and were generous enough to share the knowledge. You can’t blame new users for those things, we as a community need to improve the software and the attitudes

  • A clear victory for the free fediverse: Meta now says integrating with ActivityPub is "a long way out"
  • Huh???? I never advocated for going back to a pre-agriculture society society at all, i was pushing back against the idea that governments ‘have always existed’ because of course they haven’t, that’s patently absurd since they are social constructs

  • A clear victory for the free fediverse: Meta now says integrating with ActivityPub is "a long way out"
  • Lmao you think there were governments when early humans were wandering around the plains of Africa in tiny little tribes?

E: Downvote all you want but by the definitions being proposed here then all species have governments because they snatch food from one another, which is an immensely asinine description of 'government' since it describes and means effectively NOTHING
