  • it's excellent. I liked Broken Empire and I loved Book of the Ancestor but this seems like it's on another level.

  • The City Watch subseries of Discworld is my favorite Discworld. Just fantastic characters and stories.

  • According to my stats on Storygraph, my goal was 25 books for the year and I'm sitting at 38 books read. I shouldn't have been so conservative with my goal I think.

Favorite? Probably "The Book that Wouldn't Burn" by Mark Lawrence. The worldbuilding and character work are just phenomenal. Another best book is The Crippled God (started Malazan last fall and finished it early this year).

Least favorite? Babel. I don't even count it as read since I couldn't get beyond chapter 4. I loved Poppy War and my book club was reading Babel but it was just so flat. One-dimensional characters and too preachy and on-the-nose. I don't mind messaging in books but this wasn't even nuanced or natural.

New Release? I backed Sanderson's Kickstarter, so I am waiting for my physical copy of Yumi and the Nightmare Painter so I can read that in print. I read the other 2 secret Projects in ebook form but this one I want the new book smell experience.

  • on desktop I use eM Client. On Android I was using just plain GMail but I saw people in this comment section using other stuff so I checked it out and swapped to FairEmail.

edit: FairEmail is fantastic and I've upgraded to pro. Definitely recommend this one for mobile users with multiple email accounts.

Used to use Thunderbird but I wanted something that just looked like it was from this century. I like how eM Client works and its features and it looks nice. I don't like that I am limited to 2 email accounts though. I'd love something like it that is FOSS and allows more email addresses.

  • Finished book 4 of Murderbot Diaries and eagerly moved on to book 5, and am about 44% done with that. I expect I'll be reading book 6 by tomorrow at some point. They're by Martha Wells and they're sci-fi, but very light fun reads. She tells very tight stories with excellent characters and pacing.

  • They're short but they're paced extremely well. I have never noticed how short they are while actually reading because it's a full and engaging story. I am in love with Murderbot and it's only gotten better as the books go on.

  • Currently been blasting through Martha Wells's Murderbot Diaries. I'm up to book 4 and they just get better and better each one.

  • @slimerancher D4 is extremely buggy but feels so good to play. Really enjoying that one. FFXVI is gorgeous but I haven't gotten far yet. Cassette Beasts is super cute and has a LOT of depth to it. Overall very happy with all three of them and would recommend to anyone who likes these genres of games.

  • on my Switch the game I'm into right now is Cassette Beasts.

  • I'm excited for it, cause 2D Mario is something I grew up with on the NES and SNES. I love the art style they went with or this one, it's so clean, but it looks like it will play like the older games that were 2D. I don't know if I will get it on release but it's definitely on my to be played list.

  • Splitting my time between Cassette Beasts on Switch and D4 and FFXVI on ps5. Cassette Beasts is a great palate cleanser between heavier games.

  • That's what I did with St Louis Blues. There was no community here to I started one, asked for help and already have a second mod. We try to post1 or 2 news stories a day to start. Convo will happen when off-season really kicks in and then we will have pre-season and by then Lemmy/Kbin should be established.

As soon as I find someone with the passion for it I am transferring the community though, I have enough to mod lol

  • Just started Cassette Beasts last night. It' super cute. It's a great change of pace from when I need a break from Diablo 4.

edit: I just realized this mag was UKcasual and not Casual. I'm not in the UK at all, sorry :(

  • I can't sleep without my weighted blanket. Even in summer. We just compensate by having a large fan blowing directly onto the bed for me.

  • @Mugox

THANK YOU so much! I'm very new to kbin so I had no idea that existed. Much appreciation!

  • No worries, we all just want the same thing I guess. The ability to block a complete instance from our feed.

  • There's this option for me in the main settings page on kbin.

  • Is there a way to block an entire instance? Because in my kbin.social settings I have "hide adult content" turned ON and yet I keep getting posts from lemmynsfw in my feed and my sidebar of random recent posts.

  • I don't have it, but if they ever added a way to play the older Pokemon games my husband would want to get it because he has no other way to play them (and doesn't like emulating). I just hope they don't skyrocket the cost if they do add Pokemon.
