  • If you're talking about some sysdmin and database jobs sure, but a good chunk of those jobs you see disappearing at a more technical level are just executives chasing fomo. And yes, considering how you're engaging with the topic I'm not surprised that you don't see understand the difference a revolution in the way we engage with labor and an executive cutting costs to justify the ever-increasing price of a limited use service.

I understand that you are expressing how you feel about the subject, but it is not based in reality, you were describing a fiction sold to you by people who are incentivized to make you believe something is happening that is not happening.

  • This isn't technological progress, this is the pursuit of profit. Also the Fantastical AI that you're thinking of is not the word calculator and image generator that you see on the commercial market, nor is that even possible with any of the Computing tools that we have

edit: additionally there isn't even a consensus on how to quantify intelligence in the first place, let alone how you would create it through computation

  • Man, I hope this doesn't come across as me sounding like a doomer, but it's too late. That one rant has most certainly radicalized so much of his audience. A temporary band isn't going to do anything to fix the damage that he's caused.

  • It's not offensive to a country. It's offensive to a group of people, particularly dark-skinned people. It is a form of mockery. Unless you're trying to tell me that the Dutch people who partake in blackface aren't doing it to mock black and dark skin people. If that's the case, please educate me

  • I'm not saying that the examples for your point don't exist, but it feels like every time they do this it bites them in the ass super hard. These moves alienate people and are a great way to kill energy on the left. Unless we're just saying that left-most voters don't matter again.

  • All the way up until this past Friday I was certain he was going to hold on with a feeble death grip until the very end. While I'm extremely excited about this, I hope that liberals leftists and everyone left of center realizes, now that he's out, you absolutely have to support Kamala. She may be a cop, and all cops are bastards. But we can save the criticisms until after we've blocked the hyper fascists

  • Why would he drop out? His racist and nonsensical ramblings are what Republicans/conservatives/the wealthy and his base want. It's leftist and some liberals who don't want that. Which is why there are calls for Biden to drop out. That's not complicated. I barely even understand how this is a question

  • Why is it every single day I'm being inundated with posts of "biden's not that bad" "if you don't vote for Biden you'll get Trump" Wouldn't the messaging be much better if it was "Hey, you may not like Biden, but it's easier to form progressive coalitions under liberal governments" stop trying to make him look good. He's still a genocide enabler, much like every other president would be, I can admit that. Liberals really need to give up on getting people to like him.
