The actor had a bad time last couple of years, there were rumors that she wanted quit acting so I guess they are setting up some rooster changes for the next season. That will be... in twothousendnever... :(
Oh that was the same doctor? Never connected the two. I was thinking also about Ortega. Sam disappeared in TOS until he died so maybe he got traumatized from the incident.
I'm not the most accurate and precise regarding the lore but for what I remember of TOS (that was my favorite series) we should expect Sulu being the next one, then Bones should be in the cast together with Kirk later. Seeing that every one that will not be in TOS is now in Gorn hand's I think we already know why. I don't think it's a coincidence
My biggest gripe with this episode is
spoiler
that it could been easily a double episode THIS SEASON with more breath, I hate those cliffhangers but the plot armor was too strong here, we already know who will survive and who don't even before the start of the episode xD
I expect we’ll see Sulu, McCoy and more Scotty next season:::
Ok, a post from someone that really hate musicals and was worried about this episode. So sorry if I will over criticize the episode...
I admit the episode was so fun at the beginning and songs were nice, loved La'an and Una parts they were really good. I was thinking the episode was a banger. I loved so much the opera opening too.
Unlikely it started to lose my attention around on Chapel's song (also because the autotune was so evident in her and I found the Chapel Spock relationship the worst part of the series) and the second part was a little hard for me to follow, the music too was less interesting and even if Uhura has a great voice her solo song was too long and def not my cup of tea, I didn't even understand what was trying to say. It could have worked for me with less songs.
It was interesting I have fun for more than I thought and I laughed so much with Klingons, it was often close to clinginess but it was ok at the end.
After one of the funniest episode in trek history we got one of the darkest.
It was fantastic
Someone can explain me the halloween costume pun?
NVM found it here
deuterium poisoning

So Uhura punched Kirk under hallucinations and then years after they kissed forced by telekinesis and some guy remembered me that in the prime universe when they met she thought he was hitting on her and he got punched (unrelated). In the kelvin-verse when they met he actually was hitting on her and he got punched (related).
Oh thanks! Solved
Why I get notifications but I can't see any comment nor I can see the thread in the homepage? If it has been cancelled how there are people keeping commenting?
I was not a fan of the spock chapel love story but this episode was def a banger
Sorry if I'm just maybe brutal but I still think and at this point I will ever think that it's one of the worst recast I've seen. Pike is more Kirk than Kirk. As I've read somewhere SNW Pike is like Kirk and SNW Kirk is like Pike.
I don't know if reddit it's dying but it will be a worse place for sure (and it was quite shitty since years)
It's not that I didn't like it, I hoped more, well every ST series has mediocre episodes, in S1 the episode in costume was not my cup of tea, maybe we are unlucky that this was e1, will see the rest of the season if it get better.
I watched it, it was meh. I loved the new engineer but the fights were awful and too long. It didn't seemed SNW tbh, I hope it's just the start
I also agree on your pov on Spock and Chapel and all the rest.
I didn’t really love this episode. I agree with other users that it feels a bit more DIS than SNW s1.
Haven't seen the episode and I stopped here, I just read it because that was something I was worried since the trailers... I really hope I'm wrong but it seemed a lot a new JJA Star Trek that I didn't dislike so much as others but I loved S1 because it was so similar to TOS.
