definitely go with the latest Nodebb, because every release has incremental bug fixes As to Ubuntu again best to take the latest release
People probably get bored of me saying this, but the thing I had most problem with is the email sending (for verifying signups) Which mail service are you planning to use?
^^ everyones missing the big draw to Reddit .. If you google anything, Reddit discussions on the topic come up top. Its like a sponsored link, same as Quora that comes up high (but most people dont like!)
Reddit autogenerates you an Id name, so when you click on that topic you are set up to respond. Ease of use!
ok, working now @phenomlab . Which theme do you use on Sudonix? Your homepage has recent posts which is what I want to show too. I have enabled 'Teasers' but still my home page is mostly the categories, albeit with small teasers with it now
@baris thanks, where is the toggle to turn that on? When I go ACP>appearance>themes there are no options?
@Astro-What , no in this context default is what you get on install, until its changed to something else.
But I want some posts showing on mobile, which Im not getting at the moment. My homepage is just list of categories
If you look at Sudonix for example, it shows posts on homepage.
I have to tell @phenomlab that apart from that plus, Sudonix doesnt work well on mobile (if you dont have dark mode enabled.) I did try and post about that on Sudonix today but couldnt even complete the post as it wouldnt let me select a category from the layers of transparent menus!
Default mobile view for my site is miserable, just shows category headings, no posts. Is there an easy way I can set it to show some recent activity without installing anything?
My nodebb website doesnt look like this one. (no boxes along top showing recent posts etc)
I figured my default install Theme must not be Harmony (which is this one right?)
I went to ACP > Themes and I was surprised to see both Harmony and Persona listed as 'the default' and the forum is supposedly on Harmony already. So why dont I get the boxes at the top? !Screenshot 2025-02-07 114726.png
Previously discussed, it takes a while to follow a set of people who might post on the topic of your forum. Having done that, and got an interesting World feed, its a shame that isnt available to new users
Suggestion, World category has MyWorld, and World tabs Where World follows Admins followings, and MyWorld shows post from the users followings
Hence new users get access to a World feed which is already populated. It would make the most of this feature, that is completely empty for new users, who probably wont have any idea how to start getting posts in there
I did ask chatgpt, its new super familiar / friendly tone surprised me :ghost:
I think some of the words, make ActivityPub more complicated to understand. Like what is an Actor ? This may be basic to some, but Im still not sure what an Actor is in this context, and why that word was used. Would be grateful if anyone can explain in one line :)
