Yeah, blackmail makes a lot of sense. It would explain why he was called a tyrant despite being a good person at heart. He'd be ruling the kingdom with an iron fist if that meant keeping Ginny alive. Perhaps at the end he actually wanted to lose his humanity and free will, maybe to forget all the suffering he went through, maybe as a form of self-punishment for the suffering he caused to others as a king. The fact that he had a daughter and that she got to know him as he was before becoming an emotionless robot only makes the whole thing more tragic.
Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime aren't going anywhere since their parent companies have infinite money to burn on streaming. For this reason alone I think these two services are more likely to survive in the long run than Disney+ or Netflix. There's also Max, which has some great content but I'm not as confident it'll still be around in 10 years.

Your last point is something I've never thought about but makes a lot of sense. Humans living in the aftermath of our collapse probably won't be able to go through another industrial revolution without easy access to resources like coal, oil or peat. Guess it's for the better though, since a collapse likely means we'll have already fully screwed the environment once.
