Why I don't identify as a lesbian anymore
  • @Grail @Melody I use sapphic as a way to refer to both lesbians and bisexual women at the same time. Not to be exclusionary but as a way to refer to a common ground. Wlw could also be used, but that's hard to pronounce when talking.

But wasn't Star Trek a breaking barriers and frontiers state of the art revolutionary series?

Yes, it is. It has been and still is.

And still, you can watch The Original Series with an interracial kiss in one episode and light raping jokes in another episode. I mean... they were done by people of their time. Revolutionaries, but grown then.

And early TNG reused old TOS scripts. You can smell them.

    Depends.

The newer series do fan service referencing old series so you may miss jokes and references. Anyway, Strange New Worlds would be a good starting point. It doesn't matter if you miss references to enjoy it.

Older series "require" less previous knowledge because there is less lore to base them on. But sometimes the stories... didn't age well. Most of the episodes did, but for example the 1st season of TNG can be hard to watch for younger people.

  • After decades of declines, lesbian bars are having a renaissance
  • Straight guys don't go to seek refuge to lesbian bars. They go to disrupt the space and see if they can convince some sapphic woman to sleep with him.

  • Lesbians being anti-trans is a lesbophobic trope
  • @IvyRaven @Kolanaki
I have no idea how far you are on the transition and how far you want to/can go. But if you feel inadequate, know that there are plenty of sapphic women out there that won't mind your passing.

If you truly have a hard time, maybe the bisexual community will be more welcoming for you? Not that they will see you as a man, but that they are used to be attracted to more masculine features, no need to be perfect passing (as if that existed) to get our interest.

They are probably going to be all cis women, anyway (we are the smaller ones consuming less resources).

You know that's something that happens even to cis children sometimes, right?

This just reinforces the idea that we should improve the education and support for trans kids at all levels, specially school and early stages, and allow hormone suppressors before they do any irreversible damage on trans kids and teenagers.

If they are able to make an earlier decision, their lives will be closer to what they need.
