  • I'm a creator on certain instances and participator/lurker in some others. I'm mostly posting events happening in my city. Discussion is sparse right now but I figure it's better to have sparse conversation than NO conversation.

  • The official reddit app is not even supported on my device.
  • I initially had the same lament, but since we're early adopters of this tech, it really is on us to build the communities here. If you want to discuss something, just post a thread. Even if no one replies right away, as people start coming they will start engaging with posts that are already there.

  • The official reddit app is not even supported on my device.
  • Right on man. My last comment on R3dd!t told people the amount of time they spent figuring out how to still use 3rd party apps, they can direct that effort into learning how to participate in the Fediverse. Got a hundred-ish downvotes so that means a hundred people now know Lemmy exists.

  • YSK: If you're on Lemmy.World or Sh.itjust.works you should not subscribe to any Beehaw communities
  • Ah, but it can be. WE are literally the community builders here. Beehaw is not part of our community so just look and post at lemmy.world, or lemmy.ml, or lemmy.ca, or sh.itjust.works, or any other instance. To me, this is literally why this YSK post exists - to let people know to focus on conversations outside of that instance.

  • Has anyone watched S6 of Black Mirror?
  • Oh, I guess I took "Black Mirror" literally, as in at the end of the episode and the TV is blank, it's just me (and maybe whoever I'm watching with) looking into this black reflective screen and I'm staring back at me. Like, what I just watched is a figurative reflection of me and I, as a human being, am capable of being as cruel and disgusting and angry as the characters in each story. The only difference is not because it's fiction, it's because I've never been put into a desperate enough situation to truly test that theory.

Well, except for the mom in

    Loch Henry.

She can go get fucked in hell by hitler with a pineapple.

  • So I don't understand your mentality here. What do the people hosting servers as a hobby owe former R3dd!t users to make their migration easier??? Seems entitled to think people who are literally paying out of their own pockets right now for people like us to talk to each other owe us even more. Geez.

I'm done episode 3 and I'm going "ugh". Not in the same way that the first 5 seasons had me going UGH but still an unsettling feeling in my gut about the story Charlie Brooker is trying to tell. Ep 1 and 2 were pretty good on that front but I feel like ep 3 turned on a dime in believable character actions.

Wiping my Reddit account as we speak as the 30th begins to roll on in. Anyone struck by nostalgia?
  • Nope, I wiped a lot of the stuff in my alt when the Aimee Challenor thing happened and tbh, I've been pretty disengaged since then because I found the real world to be more interesting.

The message boards I frequented when I was 14 don't exist anymore and thank fucking god. You don't want this cringe stuff tied to you 20 years down the road. You'll find that the memories of good times are enough!
