Mine was Ubuntu. I can't remember what version but they used to mail install discs to you.
I don't remember how I heard about it but you used to be able to order free Ubuntu disks. I got them to mail me one and I replaced Windows with it and never looked back.
There are a few in my city. Not sure how affordable they are though. I don't plan on buying a house
I've been happy with my Thinkpad T480s. Got kubuntu loaded on it right now. Bought it refurbished on ebay.

I use my DSi to play emulated games. It works for what I want to play so far.
I use firs. It's a mod that adds more industries and makes the game more complex.
FISH adds more boats
2cc trainset adds more trains
Road Hog has more road vehicles.
I use a bunch of eye candy stuff too but can't remember at the moment.

The earliest pinball game I've played is the Space Cadet one that was included with Windows.
