I do make chainmail, but not this hauberk. So this was a galvanized hauberk I got on medieval collectibles. It was too shiny for the "grimdark" look I was going for, so I stripped the galvanization off and have been trying different methods to darken it. After the galvanization was removed there was nothing protecting it from rusting. For rust prevention We tried linseed oil, but we put too much on, it caked up, smelled terrible and was just bad over all. So we were burning off what was leff so I could just use gun oil to protect it.
I was never a programmer, just an operator, but you have to be VERY good with geometry and being able to imagine the part in three dimensions to read the prints and envision how the part folds up. The people who do programming and all that kind of stuff are pretty fuckin' smart!
