Vintage? How vintage? Is this rly vintage?
  • It's a still from a video. That would be amazing (impossible?) quality for a early 00's phone, it was probably done on a camcorder. Here's a YT upload from 2007, not sure when the actual show aired.

  • i hate mowing the grass
  • Ope, it's looking a bit cloudy outside! Better do another trim just in case it rains for a few days!

  • Espresso at home?
  • I started home espresso with a Breville Barista Express. That served me well for about 4 years before I got tired of its limitations, especially in regards to grind uniformity and making adjustments for different roasts (ie temp, pressure, etc.). I stopped using the built in grinder in favor of an Atom 60, which led to a massive improvement and held me over until upgrading to a Profitec Pro 600.

Until I want something plumbed in, or really want to geek out over data from a Decent, I don't see much reason to upgrade any time soon.

No EN mode as far as I can tell, and typing the English name doesn't always bring results. Searching by grade and year range helps narrow things down as I stumble through JP.

How do you use dead times at work?
  • If you want to be task-oriented and not just fuck around, do some continuing education. Depending on the field, there might even be some free options. You stay current, and you have something to show your employer if you get pressed about what you did during downtime.

Oooor you can catch up on some reading or games and enjoy the downtime.

  • Reddit r/pics votes on reopening with sexy pictures of John Oliver only
  • I joined Reddit shortly before Ridiculously Photogenic Runner, and I'll leave Reddit with Ridiculously Photogenic John Oliver. Not bad.

  • Potentially unpopular opinion: It may be time to close registrations (temporarily).
  • Hi, here on a Lemmy account! This post showed in my All feed, so it looks like k.bin and Lemmy are starting to federate more (which I think is great).

I think at this point, even were k.bin signups to be closed, defederation is going to be one of the few ways to avoid bad actors spilling from somewhere. I hope that doesn't happen, but if cultures from Lemmy and k.bin end up different, maybe a way to silo what you see to only your service can be found.

  • Why is Lemmy.world getting over moderated as it has been functioning as our r/all equivalent by obvious user choice?
  • Not accusing you of this, but there might be confusion between the instance lemmy.world and the self-titled lemmy.world community. This is about moderation in the lemmy.world community, which is meant to discuss the instance; not moderation of the instance as a whole.

  • Good suggestions for a manual coffee grinder?
  • Are you looking for something for espresso or pour-over, and what's your budget?

  • Is it possible to 'transfer' or 'sync' community subscriptions to accounts on different instances?
  • Interesting, I'll try playing around with it more. I was on quite a few Beehaw communities, and could only see posts from before defederation while logged in. When viewing those same communities signed out, more recent posts and comments were visible.

  • Is it possible to 'transfer' or 'sync' community subscriptions to accounts on different instances?
  • You can do it manually, but if you're operating from your lemmy.world account Beehaw communities won't update for you. You can only view what was posted before the defederation, if I'm understanding things correctly.

  • what does it mean that Beehaw "defederated" from lemmy.world?
  • Hey, TigerClaw. Looks like the Lemmy error of throwing your comment into another thread happened.

  • De-federate from instances with loli
  • @TheDude@sh.itjust.works, this is what I messaged about before seeing there was a thread.

  • How does one view the front page of another instance?
  • I hope that comes eventually. Right now I browse an instance in another tab or window, then copy/paste the community name I want to join into the search on my instance.

  • A mask-off moment WSJ. This is how the West really sees Asians.
  • What do you mean by mask-off moment? The article was criticizing the western influence in Chinese population control measures. Are you only going off the article title?

  • Need new verb for "redditing"
  • Plus once other services like k.bin start communicating more freely with Lemmy it can stay relevant.

  • Relay For Reddit dev is considering monthly subscription of $2-3
  • The 'spoiler' filter tag is a nice alternative to NSFW...when it works.

Unfortunately, Reddit doesn't always apply the thumbnail blur, which led to The Mandalorian being spoiled for me. :-(

  • Relay For Reddit dev is considering monthly subscription of $2-3
  • The NSFW filter is going to suck. Not because of porn, I don't care about being able to access that on Reddit, but because of the NSFW tag culture. For example, in some miniature painting hobby subs, people will mark anything with blood painted on as NSFW. Hell, over the past 3 years I've seen more and more text posts get a NSFW tag for swearing.

As much as I want to support Relay after using it for so many years, it would suck not knowing what pseudo-NSFW content is being hidden from me.

  • [No Spoilers] Anyone playing any horror games lately? Horror is definitely my favorite lane.
  • Dead Space is fantastic. I never played the original, so I'm glad this remake knocked it out of the park. It's more action oriented like Resident Evil 4, but still atmospheric enough with headphones or a good sound system.

RE7, on the other hand, gets my blood pumping the way Amnesia did when I (tried) to play.
