  • Yeah, I guess these links are not all that useful to most people here unless they also have Mastodon accounts or something. I like to try to link other parts of the Fediverse when relevant, but I guess it's really limited how useful it is.

I saw Rimu post something about working more towards mastodon integration in Piefed at some point, and for Mbin users at least it makes sense.

  • More progressive than Austria is a freakishly low bar.

I think this is more about national security than progressiveism. For any military to use Microsoft word at this point sounds irresponsible to the point of bordering treason.

  • I can't help but associate the word "radical" with surfing. As if it wasn't difficult enough to take the threat of the radical left seriously already 🤙

  • The Global Sumud Flotilla has now entered what they refer to as the danger zone outside the coast of Egypt, north of Suez. You can and should follow them live on their website. @Vegard@fribygda.no is the only person I'm aware of posting directly to the Fediverse from the first wave, but an unofficial channel is keeping us posted over at @globalsumudflotilla@mastodon.bida.im .

Rising public awareness about the flotilla puts pressure on governments to ensure their safety and to react if Israel infringes on their rights to sail in international waters and to open a humanitarian corridor. Anything we do to spread the word helps build pressure - this is one of the few times sharing stuff in social media is actually directly helpful. And unlike a lot of content from Gaza it can be a hopeful rather than (only) depressing message.

The next wave of the flotilla—Thousand Madleens to Gaza—is currently passing by the south of Greece. You can follow the French delegation at @1kmadleenfr@mastodon.social and the the Danish delegation at @thousandmadleensdenmark@radikal.social .

In other news I just re-watched Dunkirk yesterday. It's a powerful story about what a flotilla of civilian ships can be capable of.

  • Oh great, and now they added a yellow pop-up window as well, also stating that "The Radical Left in Congress shut down the government. HUD will use available resources to help Americans in need.".

    It keeps evolving. Good stuff.

  • The administration in all their professionalism did not only remove this, but they replaced it with their own weird propaganda. The site now* reads:

    Red banner:

The Radical Left are going to shut down the government and inflict massive pain on the American people unless they get their $1.5 trillion wish list of demands. The Trump administration wants to keep the government open for the American people.

Weird religious quote (what the fuck is up with this shit anyway):

“God blessed us with this great nation, and together, we can increase self-sufficiency and empower Americans to climb the economic ladder toward a brighter future.”

    – Secretary Scott Turner

this text was changed less than twelve minutes after I submitted this post, it's a dynamic situation. Watch the collapse real-time from the comfort of your living room!

  • Democracy is in crisis. Eating the rich is the only answer.

They are so fucking close to getting it.

  • I'm using Qobuz for music streaming. It's alright.

Last time I checked they pay artists more than the competition, they curate playlists and editorial content rather than pushing AI left and right, and my experience is generally good.

Minus points for lacking API and native Linux client. On desktop Linux the web app works well.

  • Naturally the Berlin police responded by doing what the Berlin police does best. Al Jazeera has some nice pictures.

  • Nudie Jeans is Swedish and makes good quality jeans with free repairs.

  • Except when it comes to taxation, sadly.

  • The institutions are scatterd around the world, but the general assembly is in the headquarters in NYC. I guess the idea was that it's the capital of the world or something.

  • I'm pretty sure they are applauding the ones walking out. The decision to sit is not necessarily a message of support to Netanyahu, but a product of national policy. The Norwegian foreign minister was among the people who sat, in spite of being outspoken pro Palestine.

  • This is in New York. The US has never been part of the Rome Statute, which is the treaty that established the International Criminal Court.

Every American leader since Clinton has been too cowardly to commit to prosecuting war criminals. Maybe not too surprising since there's a strong argument to be made that they have all been war criminals themselves.

What's new with Trump is that he's actively attacking the ICC, but America has always been a safe haven for war criminals. "Nazi, Schmazi!" says Wernher von Braun.

  • Wafrn is more similar to tumblr than it is to twitter. I'm not sure exactly what this means beyond the fact that it seems to attract a different and possibly more colourful crowd.

It also integrates with AT Proto/Bluesky as well as ActivityPub/the Fediverse.

  • I understand the sentiment, and there are certainly more than a few people in the Kremlin I would not mourn for, but it is still war.

I'll save the popcorn for the ICC trials.
