I appreciate your well thought out response to my rashly made comment. Also I looked through some rat park comics and I agree with their and your sentiments. Addiction is complex, and placing all the blame of addiction on the person is not just incorrect, but cruel and unhelpful. The thought process behind my comment was this: if environment, opportunity, and healthcare (also access to resources and just general compassion) are the ways to remedy addiction, than addressing drug problems by killing (alleged) drug traffickers or starting a trade war with china is completely off base. An addict WILL find their fix. I can also empathize with the need to 'turn off the faucet' of drugs in order to address the crisis levels of addiction in certain places, but to remove the drugs without also providing massive care\aid\resources is not going to solve the problem.

You have optimism. It could be used for good like you describe, but most likely will be used by EA to cut artists out, slash costs, make as much profit as possible and suffocate the company until the private equity owners move on to the next company.

I see the downvotes and am choosing to extend the olive branch instead: I understand your perspective about how people who could not afford to buy a home would be shit outta luck, but this perspective limits itself to the boundaries imposed by the capitalist need to commidify basic human necessities. Homes should be guaranteed for everyone. Yes we have the resources and yes it is possible to do. In fact, all the empty homes already exist to house everyone in the states. It has nothing to do with 'good' or 'bad' landlords, the concept of a landlord is directly opposed to housing all people, as they are financially incentivized to maximize rent and to keep a pool of unhoused people in society with which to maintain the threat of homelessness. There is no invisible hand of the market.

True that we are twisting his words, but also true that Mamdani has stated that he would order the arrest of Netanyahu if he were to enter NYC. There could be a question similar to "would you support\enforce the arrest orders of the ICC and NYC mayoral office". Again I agree that we are twisting his words, but I think Mamdani is twisting his own words in order to form a "big tent" of support that contains opposing ideas.

All major news orgs are simply parroting the lies from the fascist administration. People are protesting against ICE kidnapping people and racially profiling and deporting people without due process(and lots of other things, but these protests are the ones the administration treats the worst). Anytime you see something stephen miller says, it is a lie.

I've found some super cool niche communities using the 'random community' search, which i think is a Voyager app specific option cause I'm not seeing it on desktop. I definitely recommend the Voyager app

Subscribe to communities and/or utilize the 'random' search to find communities (be warned that nsfw stuff up though if your setting isnt filtered). Sort by new sometimes.
