Anyone else using plexamp?

Nowadays I'm practically using plexamp far more often than I watch my own video content on Plex. I started using Plex for music about 6 months ago and plexamp has been such a powerhouse of a music app in ways I never expected. I really appreciate the specific DJs they give you with sonic analysis. I've realized it's also made me enjoy buying CDs again, which are especially cheap these days!

Megathread for Reddit Blackouts and News - Day 3
  • The way Reddit has handled this has been so disappointing. Aaron Swartz been rolling over but man look what Reddit has become. I believe now more than ever that any site that revolves around a community should be in the hands of said community and not corporations or else this eventually happens. Corporations need to produce profit to survive, but when we're talking spaces for open discussion that need more often than not works against the very community that makes up the content.

  • What do you use to track your reading?
  • I just started using Bookwyrm. Not the best app ever but it's federated and relatively new, so I'm giving it time. My wife uses Goodreads with her friends but I don't want to support Amazon any more than I already do.

  • When, where and how do you read?
  • It does make sense. One thing I like to do is after I read quickly summarize for myself what I just read. Later as I'm returning to the book again I recall/reproduce that summary. that's been really helpful for me. Also that park looks incredible.

  • When, where and how do you read?
  • Forgot to mention that carrying my ereader around constantly means that idle moments in public end up getting used to advance in the book I'm reading, instead of purposelessly checking my phone or using social media. I think I read a post on here in another thread where someone else has had the same experience.

  • When, where and how do you read?

Myself personally I get most of my reading done on my 45 minute commute to work on the bus/train. I also enjoy reading in the mornings on weekends and occasionally in the evening on weekdays.

Another thing I like to do with my wife on the weekend is pick up some lunch and coffee and then read at the park.

Generally carrying my ereader around constantly means that idle moments in public end up getting used to advance in the book I’m reading, instead of purposelessly checking my phone or using social media. I think I read a post on here in another thread where someone else has had the same experience.

What about y'all? Any rituals? Do you play music?

What's your go to e-reader these days?
  • Thanks for the comprehensive overview. Yeah color in my ereader is not very personally enticing and I don't care for an app store, I actually keep my Kindle in airplane mode 24/7 haha.

The water resistance and flush screen sound great though, but nothing I'm rushing to the store for. Think I'll look for that when my paperwhite dies out which is probably going to be a long time from now unless I damage it.

  • What's your go to e-reader these days?

I'm just re-discovering the 2015 Kindle paper white I bought years ago and had stopped using...because overall I had started reading less. I'm using it with a new appreciation for how great of a form factor it is for my hands + a pop socket. Carry it with me everywhere, tucks into my jacket pocket or backpack when I'm heading to work.

I'm not the biggest fan of Amazon, but I load it with Calibre so where possible I try to get my ebooks from elsewhere.

Anyway Im wondering what you all are reading on and why. What're the latest advances in ereader technology since 2015? Am I missing out on something?
