No the other options are legitimately just bad. They should have to earn my vote like anyone else, and that means addressing their batshit insanity.
...I can't argue there. Genocide all the same, but at least without killing kids.
Continued US protection is more about prevention of civilian casualties, to me
I completely agree, and you have a good point that Israel did bomb the embassy first. Technically Iran does seem to support Hamas, but they still doesn't justify what Israel did.
All in all, Israel is inserting itself into these situations. They're being genocidal and aggressive, and prompting responses. They feel justified in lethal force for self defence, only after they purposely put themselves in harm's way. My ideal US policy at this point would be defending civilians and nothing else -- but even then, like you say, it emboldens Israel to continue being a rogue state.
And I agree with your final sentiment completely. Democrats aren't perfect, but Republicans are so terrible by comparison that they make Democrats look like spotless. I see a vote for Biden and Democrats as a means to eventually address the issues with unfettered capitalism and corporate greed -- the Republican party is fractured and in a bad place. Repeated Democrat victories by high margins will destroy their party, and allow us to finally focus on reining in corporations and nationalizing critical industries. We need Republicans out of the way first before we can fix those. You can't fix a house with totally broken plumbing if it's currently on fire.
Huh, TIL she has a blog.

"As a first step, we need an immediate cease fire and negotiations to ensure the security and autonomy of all parties, as provided for in the Minsk accords."
She blames the US for Russia's decision to invade as well.
I will concede she doesn't directly call for a peace treaty, but she is not explicit about what the negotiations and conditions of a cease fire should be, and it's very important to know those terms. I'm all for an end to violence, but her using the word negotiations suggests to me that Russia would get something out of the deal, which is unacceptable. Russia should gain nothing whatsoever to stop an invasion they started.
Perhaps I'm just being paranoid and overly skeptical because of what I've seen other non mainstream politicos say about a ceasefire. I think we can both agree however that she needs to heavily expand on her Ukraine position and explain exactly what terms she'd want for an end to hostilities.
I feel ya. All we can do is try to keep our loved ones and each other safe and improve our lives.
They keep trying to break the norms and standards that are the only thing standing in the way of them being punched in the face. I suppose this an inherent flaw of fascism actually -- the democratic and societal norms that fascists want to overthrow are also the exact same norms that are stopping political violence against them.
And perhaps therein is our strongest advantage against fascism in the modern era. With how readily available news is, a lot more people know what's going on and are up to date on current events. More of the masses are informed and politically active than back in the 1920-40s. Overturning Roe alone has created a very large angry population.
A fascist takeover means all bets are off, and there's more of us than there are of them.
I don't think that's realistic in a democracy unfortunately. It'll always come down to who you like better, but not who you actually like. Even countries with popular vote parliamentary systems don't have the luxury of voting for people they like.
Fine then, if Israel took war orphans like Russia? You'd be totally fine with that?
You fundamentally misunderstand what's necessary for Republicans to accomplish their goals vs Democrats to accomplish their goals. Overturning Roe and codifying Roe are two completely different branches of the government. You really need to brush up on civics.
There is no better candidate. Stein and West want a peace treaty in Ukraine, which implies concessions to Russia. Russia should not be rewarded for invading a sovereign nation, destroying its cities, slaughtering its people, and kidnapping its children.
It would be like if a treaty for Gaza was that the fighting would stop but in return Israel would get to build their own settlements on the Palestinian land they've destroyed.
Unless Stein and West specify that they want the total withdrawal of all Russian forces and a restoration of the borders prior to Russia's conquest of Crimea, in addition to reparations to rebuild what they destroyed in Ukraine, the two of them are no better.
Remember though that Iran has already launched a significant attack on Israel, and it was because of the US and their allies that casualties were heavily curbed. If the US had previously stopped all operations, it could very well have turned into an existential war for Israel.
None of that remotely defends what Israel is doing. And I completely agree we need to stop sending them bombs and additional military support for Gaza. But my point is that there is a potential for a much bigger, possibly nuclear conflict if countries cut all ties.
So if Israel took every Palestinian child they saw, regardless of what family they have, and brought them to Israel for an Israeli family to raise, you'd be fine with that?
Third side is bad too!
It depends a lot on where the hydrogen is sourced from. Hydrogen that is generated from electrolyzers using renewable power is completely green (and funny enough, called Green Hydrogen), and is a good way to store excess energy from solar and wind.
Oil companies however want to market hydrogen from drilling and refining, which is dirty as hell.
It's an important differentiation to make though. Hydrogen is not inherently bad and will have plenty of green applications. We just have to make sure it's coming from the right places.
Please tell me you meant racist and not raciest
This can be intuitively understood if you've gone through difficult college classes. There's two ways to prepare for exams. You either try to understand the material, or you try to memorize it.
The latter isn't good for actually applying the information in the future, and it's most akin to what an LLM does. It regurgitates, but it doesn't learn. You show it a bunch of difficult engineering problems, and it won't be able to solve different ones that use the same principle.
Not of children. You have to get written permission from their parents -- or you used to, at least.
It must drive him nuts that he's actually incapable of doing all this. He can't actually create anything. Certainly not shareholder value lmao
Please proceed, Mrs. Alito.
Seriously though she's just exposing more and more how the Court is an absolute sham that isn't even close to impartial. It actually convinces me that long terms are a bad idea for everyone -- including the judges' family.
The Supreme Court must be impartial, and that binds not only the judge but their immediate family as well. It's unrealistic to expect people to show political impartiality for that long, and the way that it should work is that judges effectively give up their right to free political speech while serving. They cannot be allowed to express political opinion whatsoever.
With that in mind, shorter terms with a much larger body of justices feel appropriate. There also needs to be a new check on the Supreme Court so that their word isn't final -- the very idea goes against our idea of Checks and Balances. 2/3 of Congress, or a simple majority of Congress plus the President should be able to override the Court.
Anyway, what I remind myself when I get pissed about this -- reform will happen. These cretins have made it inevitable. The only question is when, and each time they spew their vile hate, the justices and their spouses bring us closer to reform.
That's another powerful advantage we have from the information age. We aren't just limited to our neighborhood and towns anymore, we can talk with people all over the country and worldwide. Cities are also more populous. The average person is exposed to far more diversity than before, and they know that people different from them also just want to live their lives in peace.
I think fascism has become fundamentally disadvantaged compared to the last century. The only reason we're observing an apparent rise is because people trust the system will keep them away and we won't need to act otherwise. But if fascists prove us wrong and break the system, there is a much larger oppositional force than they would've faced back in the 1920s-40s, and it is in much closer communication than before.
