Fyi, beaters can usually be sold for what you paid for them. Buy a beater for $1000, save for better car. Sell beater for $1000, and get $5000 good car.

Just also fuck your "get used to theft with no recourse" attitude. We need places to rent - not everyone wants to own a house. You can argue the price of rent, but don't pretend it isn't a real job. They are providing a valuable service, and have expenses to do so. I'm in a city with a huge housing shortage - people are lined up trying to rent places. People are auction-like bidding against other potential tenants (technically illegal) to pay more rent in order to get a place to sleep. We need more rentals. If it's not worth it, they'll sell. Which means one less house for rent, making the problem worse.

And again: fuck this arsonist murderous ahole.

I was going to write a deeply cynical reply, but really, none of this needs any more cynicism.

I'm going to just focus on that something good happened.

There's a replanting program near where I am, and its insanely labour intensive.

Harvesting seeds. Growing them in tanks. And then plenting them in the ocean. A lot of acuba divers, a lot of time. Super time consuming.

And the area to reseed? Well, the total area to replant is maybe 66km² (25 square miles).

Loss of seagrass is a huge problem beyond carbon.

• Breeding ground for fish (lots of wrasse)
• Food for turtles and manatees/dugongs

Loas of seagrass causes ecosystems to crash :(

When I look at the inability to fund big science projects like this, I'm reminded of the most fictional thing to ever happen in a science fiction movie.
