  • I know English isn't your strong suit, but your word salad about warranty is irrelevant when the battery packs last 15-20 years and over 400,000km (250,000 freedom units).

    for example: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2016-tesla-model-s-used-as-a-taxi-has-only-12-battery-degradation-after-310k-miles-221769.html

    and it's far from unique.

you also happily danced around and ignored the part where I clearly said "non-genuine" and 1/3 the price, and then tried to talk about genuine and full price. I mean, fuck me, what's the point of even trying to talk to you if you're going to be so retarded?

So yeah, either you're being disingenuous or you're a fucking retard. 50-50 chance either way I can see at this point.

But lastly, fuck Musk, buy a Xiaomi SU7 Pro instead. or a BYD Seal or Atto3.

  • right now the cars are good for over 400,000km / 15 years before needing a battery replacement, and getting a 3rd party pack put in for 1/3 the price of genuine for another 15 years is a pretty good deal.

(and the old pack is 97+% recyclable)

I feel like you're looking at cars from 10+ years ago, or are purposefully being disingenuous. Especially with your last bs line. It's just pathetic.

  • yep. where I am, materials+labor are up about 30% -50% since 2019/2020, which has really hurt local government too. All those basic plans for a new local sports centre? local roadworks and improvements? Now local taxes/rates have to go up AND we get less for our money.

Plus, thanks to people paying up front / fixed contract amounts for building, with materials increasing so much, thousands of building companies have collapsed, meaning tens of thousands of houses aren't being built, meaning the housing crisis gets worse! yay!

  • "recent AI developments"

so, you just want to talk about the current batch of narrow AI LLMs?

or are you open to all the graphics/video editing stuff? (Topaz's quality is pretty amazing)

it's a lot better than "is hotdog".

    it's also slow.

remember, all these systems do is take a bunch of data in and guess until they get it right, then based on that, process more data and so on.

Have you ever read the story about the AI tank from the 90s?

    https://gwern.net/tank

short version of the story is: computer was fed a bunch of pictures. some with tanks, some without. after a while, it got great at identifying them.

when they tried it out with a tank, it kept shooting at trees.

turns out, all the pics with tanks were taken in the shade.

    now, like I said: story.

but the point is, this is something that's been worked on for decades. it's a problem as big as teaching as it is how to teach.

so, to be clear: there are LOTS of "true uses". the issue is "they aren't ready yet".

we're just playing around with beta versions (effectively) while still being amazed at how far they've come.

  • based on your posts, you've convinced me to shoot squirrels with a pellet gun all afternoon.

it won't kill them, not quickly. But I figure making a couple dozen animals suffer and die a slow death in my neighbour's yard will create a nice balance.
