An application to read morse code by analyzing the live video or audio stream
  • I do not know about video, however for audio there is already GGMorse (play store link) available for both modern smartphone platforms. You can communicate with Morse using UHF as well, but in my opinion it does not work as reliably as standard Morse code.

If you're curious, you can try talking to your friends with SSTV, but I'm afraid there isn't a free iOS app AFAIK

  • Open Source Equivalent to Project Planning?
  • I selfhost Vikunja on a small 1GB RAM VM. It has views for list, table, Gantt and Kanban (I assume that's what you mean by not manually reordering?) You can setup reminders for your tasks like any project management tool as well.

You can access its web interface via port 3456, so no syncing or external app is needed, it's all browser based. Of course, you can setup a wireguard VPN to access it anywhere.

  • Mentorship Monday - Discussions for career and learning!
  • I work at an educational institution that doesn't really prioritize security, or anything IT related for that matter. We are a very small team (3 people) and we can't really enforce any institution-wide training. We send regular PSA emails and that's about it.

Of course, we have control over password policies and external access through workspace management tools, but we don't have control over a lot of higher-up decisions. I wish I could enforce even stricter password policies but it's just not possible for the higherups.

I was thinking of raising funding for some sort of cybersecurity day event at the institution, but when it comes to funding, you know how generous educational institutions are.

  • Mentorship Monday - Discussions for career and learning!
  • Not strictly career related, but how can I make regular people aware of the importance of cyber security in day to day work? My nontechnical colleagues really brush off security as an optional measure and it's really pissing me and my coworkers off.

  • What are your favourite locations?

What are your favourite locations/regions in this game?

Mine is definitely the Lonely Lighthouse out in Desolation Point. It's such a cozy little place and a cool shelter to have. Desolation Point in general is an interesting region.

Leafy climbing/viny plant for natural arches
  • Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'll go with ivy, black eyed Sally and clematis for the walkway. Its going to be constantly maintaned so no worries about ivy getting everywhere else. Thanks again!

  • Leafy climbing/viny plant for natural arches

Hello everyone! What are some fast growing leafy plants that could extend from wooden supports every 4 Meters or so? I'm looking to make a pretty long natural walkway with some sort of shade overhead. I think fast growing plants are the best option. Is there something leafy enough to cross 4 meters?

I'm in a wet temperate climate.

    The newest 'old' laptop?
  • Thank you for all your advice! After digesting just about every Thinkpad T and X model I think I'm going to settle for a T440p as my main work machine and a X220/X230 (with keyboard swap) as an ultra portable. Just waiting for the right deals on used thinkpads in my country.

  • The newest 'old' laptop?
  • Framework seems like the ideal choice but right now it is out of my price range. For long term however it does seem like the best choice right now.

That MNT laptop sure looks fun to use (and modify to my liking). However it is expensive. But I do like its open mindset

  • The newest 'old' laptop?
  • I actually never used a dell, but it looked like a decent laptop with a decent price (used, 160$ with 8gb ram + nvme) plus notebookcheck were pretty positive about it.

Do you recommend any particular lenovo?

  • The newest 'old' laptop?

I'm talking abundant I/O, great repairability/easy to open, maintain. A laptop from back when laptop manufacturers didn't hate us.

The closest I got was a dell latitude 5500 which has decent I/O and a pretty modern processor.

If Lenovo were to make a modern T42 or something like that, not sparing the ports.
