  • As well as fear of actually starting a winning plan for once and then they'll all have to work for their wealth instead of cashing anonymous checks.

There are few things they fear more than the end of one-party-pretending-to-be-two rule, they would be forced to retire with only millions in the bank and not hundreds of millions.

  • I didn’t remember that it was about hating women.

It wasn't, there was just a sizeable segment of 4-chan types who liked Bernie and the left, being unable to rally together for anything, broadly attacked these dudes for existing and not adoring Hilary Clinton who was, in case you all missed it, a woman.

I'm sure there were some performative loud voices from assholes trying to poison the well, but our side hasn't learned to ignore this shit, and never will. Leftists are as easily manipulated as MAGA but in different ways, ya'll just haven't figured it out yet.

  • Yah while I'm aware of the situation and what's been said, what has been said wasn't exactly from a highly reputable source, it wasn't even from the DHHS, it was someone who "talked to" RFK, and somehow every news outlet picked it up.

That all said, it could indeed happen, the administration is unhinged and a spike in covid deaths would be great for their plan of manufactured chaos, but they also have a much longer track-record of leaking crazy implications in order to fuck with the valuation of stocks.

They may also be planning to do the Chairman Trump thing again and leverage their threats for a 10% cut of Moderna and Pfizer's profits. I just don't see them cutting off a profitable company for no other reason than an-anti vax narrative they never really cared about, and just pushed to fleece the country's stupidest fucks.

All in all, it's way too unverified and unpredictable to know for sure what's going to happen, however this infographic/poster thing is really terrible. It's framed like an announcement, posted in first-person, and has no links or sources. It's so terrible I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone in the administration made it and leaked it also.

Go get your boosters/vaccines and your kid's vaccines anyway, it shouldn't take this to do the right thing.

  • At least Howard Hughes at the decency to lose his fucking mind in isolation. That and also contribute actual advancements to cinema and aerospace.

It's tragic though that likely Musk will ensure his name is plastered on a thousand different agencies, institutions, foundations, statues and bidets all over the world and people growing up in several generations from now will largely assume he was some great inventor or hero along the lines of great pioneers of the past.

  • BRO STOP GOONING TO AI ANIME AND TAKE US TO MARS

"Take us to Mars"? Are there really people out there who think they personally are going to benefit from this groyper chud's bottomless piggy bank and ketamine addiction?

  • Question of the day, are you a pedo if it’s anime?

Gosh, never seen this debate come up on the fucking worst parts of the internet before, totally new one. Can't wait for all the fresh and original takes.

In before "Ephebophile" gets thrown around and used as some kind of moral high ground.

  • We would do well to remember that for every democracy that has fallen (and there have been a lot) they had a large segment of the population feverishly supporting the dictators as they burned down the centers of education and the constitutions that ran contrary to the regime's plans.

They are attempting this kind of overreach because there are people are supporting it. We have to fight these people.

Not with violence or weapons just yet, but with community action and spending our money more wisely. Get involved in your neighborhoods and city management meetings, get social even if you hate people, suck it up and hold some yard sales and bake sales, whatever else gets you talking to people in your immediate area. Start getting to know who your elected officials are and mount organized pressure on them to resist this fascist takeover.

We kick the base out from under this thing and it falls out. Stop fighting stupid, get off the internet, get off Lemmy where you get all your satisfaction looking at memes or fighting with other leftists. Stop buying new games and drugs and alcohol and doordash, hoard your money so the liches don't get it. Now IS the time.

  • It's worse how many people act like they care and then go on to say "nothing ever happens" and "I ain't readin all that" when it comes time to learn what the problem is and what can be done.

We need a very large EMP blast to disable people's phones and computers. We are responding to the atomization and destruction of society by atomizing ourselves further and withdrawing even further from community and social action.

  • edit after regretting checking bio: really guys, you can roleplay as colony organisms and refrigerators and small planets and whatever else all you want, at least try to sound like you're having fun doing it. Have some self awareness and make your alternative identity a source of joy for yourself and others and you will get a lot more acceptance.

  • Then when they put cameras and ED-209 killer robots on every crosswalk, start painting sidewalks. Then bike lanes. Then culverts. This should never end just because we know how much it pisses them off.

edit: ya'll are upvoting this shit but I double-dog DARE you to actually do this shit. You don't even have to do it in Florida, just get out and do SOMETHING you lazy fucks!

  • After a certain age, waking up from a nap feels like being a malnourished bear slowly crawling out of your winter den on shaking legs and a confused, lethargic mind that only wants berries.

  • We can hit him

There's several thousand things we "can" do and hit him with, but the problem is we we're not doing those things. Or more specifically, we have not done of this broadly for so long that we're now relying on the goddamn democrats to be our final bastion of defense against losing democracy entirely. We let too many angry young men become incels and let our moron neighbors retreat to their own online spaces unchallenged. It's set-in now, it's a stain. We will never undo it.

No, seriously, they're deploying military forces on political enemy cities, our time for making his base raise their brow and go "Hmnn! What is he UP TO!" is long over. They sidestepped the Epstein thing and just plowed right through, and most of the base moved on too. They have the judicial branch, they have house and senate, they do not care.

We can keep talking about it when we talk to people already shaky in their support, but we're moving into endgame territory, it's going to take some huge, catastrophic event to bring this to a head, such as national guard soldiers and deaths on one or both sides, or some other bloodbath that changes American narratives. Right now in sites like Lemmy and Reddit most of the people are still not taking this seriously are chanting "nothing ever happens" as they sit there doing nothing. Gen Z broadly wants to check out and roleplay and play games right up until they can't anymore.

If you can get people rallied to get involved in social programs, local elections and city/county policy, it would be our best bet for saving the future, even if it takes generations now. But it's gonna be shit for a long time because too many people who actually cared hid.

  • This includes plans to breed billions of sterile flies and dump them from the air over southern Texas and Mexico in the hope of stopping the parasite’s spread.

Incidentally, this isn't a new plan, it's a successful plan that's been used against Screwworms in South America and eradicated them entirely in some places. It does take constant effort to ensure they don't come back, and the US has broadly funded this eradication program for years because of the global good it does for relatively little cost comparatively. If Mexico and South America's livestock is safe, we make money and have food and best of all, the worm doesn't make it into the US to torture human and animal alike.

I mean, that's the first paragraph. Do we really need to spell out what gets written in paragraph two, or just go straight to the article from May?

  • No, that's a dumb fucking reply. I am saying that people were not happier under dictators, that's not exactly gymnastics. Meanwhile, there are countries here and now on earth that have higher happiness levels who are more focused on community and culture and have social safety nets to back it up. That's my point.

  • communist regimes

    Already lost me there.

There hasn't been a real "communist regime" there have just been a lot of dictators and despots using the label, and if you know history you should know this, otherwise it's weird that you think the only alternative to life-destroying capitalism run amuck is straight up cartoonish, hollywood-invented, jump-suits and tank-parades-communism.

However I have traveled the actual REAL world and there are many, many countries where people do not prioritize throwing money at corporations and care about their communities and each other and they are much, much happier with less distractions, less luxuries, fewer stressors and more social engagement, and in many of those places they also have free healthcare and public transportation. You know, socialist policies that help people not have to struggle so hard to survive every day so they can spend time with their friends and family.

  • It ain't happening. They already stopped caring. So have most people.

We all knew it would go away, but it should serve as a pretty profound reminder that we don't have rule of law anymore, and we have the exact same fucking situation that we declared independence as a nation from. The SAME thing.

  • The only thing essentialist about us (and the only other explanations are essentialist) is that we're highly social creatures, the point that we literally die without social contact like a goddamn lovebird or guinea pig.

The primary thing that's gotten in the way of our social life of the past is the rampant increase in "luxuries" such as single-family homes, personal cars, computers that keep us inside, and the vast array of conveniences that let us survive with clicks and phone calls with strangers.

At its heart, it's not complex. We buy things that are sold to us to give us the illusion of comfort, but comfort is not good for us, having community is what's good for us and makes happier and have more balanced perspectives, and we're suffering massively and experiencing national divisions because we don't have a sense of community broadly.
