  • The line is finally here?

Don't you love how the "nothing ever happens" crowd doesn't actually make anything happen.

Lemmy is largely filled with deluded children, I've found a few fighters here but it's much more effective to recruit and organize from larger, smarter platforms.

  • I’ve prepared my whole life for this

Wow, so glad we're just now finally getting to that line where your years of studying the blade finally are called upon.

While you're out naruto-running through the park pretending to fight ninjas, I'll be continuing to organize my neighborhood the best I can to get involved in our next election cycle and know who's running for what positions so we can hopefully kick the legs out from under the establishment. If they can do it in fucking New York they can do it in every town in the US.

  • It absolutely was and is like that.

The thing is, when those horrible posts got boosted to the front, it just made for more drama, more "engagement" and more links being shared across other social media sites.

Reddit ignoring their responsibility to administrate wasn't a bug, it was a feature.

It's the same as what Jubilee is doing now, boosting the worst voices on both sides, making people hate each other more and giving people a distorted view of demographics in our country. It's line going up at the expense of everything we've worked the last several thousand years to build. I'm happy I was banned and will never return, I just wish more people would realize what these places are doing to us all.

  • My brother in christ, or whatever the fuck you are, I have been banned on most platforms and have new running accounts just for this and debating mindless, heartless morons into the fucking ground.

I'm sorry, point me towards the Conservative fucking lemmy communities that are receptive to outsiders and debate LOL or are you not aware there are other social media platforms out there?

It's a weird effect that when someone feels called out by a broad, sweeping statement that they have to jump in and invent stories in their head based on absolutely no evidence to preserve some kind of triggered pride. It's very transparent and comes across as childish.

  • I fully appreciate the advice, and I have been hammering the block button, but every time I do a small part of my faith in humanity chips away like a crumbling old statue the represented a forgotten empire.

I am sad that so many people are unthinking, unfeeling, or deeply unserious where it matters. But here we are, forced to prune and further the atomization of our failed world because there is no alternative. There's no arguing nor reasoning with people who interact with others only to address their inner feelings and not with care or consideration that we share an objective reality we have to agree on.

With AI and immersive experiences, this is all going to get even worse.

  • This may be a shock to you, but there are other sites out there where actual bad people go and see things, I have to warn you though, they will argue with you, and I know the folks here are pretty sensitive about such things.

  • Great, now spread it on actual right-wing sites and social media and not just places like Lemmy for upvotes from the 99.9999% of people here who would agree with you.

edit: apparently some of the 99.9999% really rather masturbate to this content than even hear the mild suggestion that it can be weaponized for good. I am genuinely a LITTLE surprised how much it triggers some people to suggest leaving a safe-space and actually putting yourself at risk of humiliation and gasp downvotes from strangers, but really, this is a fine image-thing, now lets use it where it matters. These sites and communities should be our staging areas for waging war. Not a place to suck each other off for having the same opinions, or worse, infighting with your allies.

  • That was so long ago, it's just how people in contentious communities dealt with people to save work on mods.

I know because I was involved in those apps and moderating large subs that absolute shitmouthed turds loved to ransack with brigading.

You have no idea how bad brigading was, particularly by the foul, juvenile 4chan-type crowds who would arbitrarily decide something was "pro feminist" and then flood the sub with hate posts until the mods gave up and then they would slip in their own mods and rebrand the whole community.

I genuinely did not care and still do not care if it offended some people that they were pre-banned because they liked to participate in hate communities, for whatever reason. Back then you could make alts and nobody cared so what does it matter.

  • It's a smaller site, as evident that your subscriptions and even the default homepage barely crawls by and there's often days with almost no new content.

Lemmy is not going to be the future of shared internet space, but it's a good Purgatory for the exiled before we all decide to start doing things outside.

  • Lemmy has more personal interaction but it's still a deeply niche culture made up largely of younger white males who really, really like linux and while I align with leftists, it gets tiring seeing leftists and tankies bickering with each other rather than real debates between people with actual divergent ideology. While reddit also has it's own demographic problems, there are places where you can get a broader range of ideas and diversity.

  • Same, also 12 years in and no history of problems. Quoted someone calling a female user a "bitch" so they couldn't edit and reported them, I got flagged and banned from the large subreddit for "using a slur." I appealed and had the pleasure of talking to a mod grade-schooler with temper problems so the appeal was denied and as a result, somehow... for reasons that are still unclear, my entire account was then banned. Admins did not care. I made a new account and was shadowbanned immediately.

I could go through the hoops and change my IP and all that fun stuff if I really want to participate on reddit.

    But I don't.

  • It's already in motion, we may not have public caning for a few more years but we will have a whole new ripe population segment to fill our for-profit prison industry!

After that, they will go after interracial marriages under the guise of "stopping foreign terrorists from becoming citizens through marriage" and require all marriage licenses to specify the races of the couple for a registered database. And at this point, I will be yelling at people on forums and social media saying "Don't you see what they're doing??" and will be called "reactionary" and "fearmongering" kind of like when I said they were going to end legal abortion and start rounding up non-whites for concentration camps and that they will deploy the military to the cities of political opponents.
