I made a bevel gauge thingy to sight down when augering holes in chair seats
  • Nice! It's a nice tool to have for non square drilling. Just add a mirror on a stand to make sure you're aligned both ways

  • What movie(s) exceeded your expectation?
  • Tropic Thunder. Went in knowing it was a new Ben Stiller movie and nothing else.

  • Sometimes, the most memorable BBEGs are the least expected
  • This is just Yzma from "The emperor's new groove"

    Can't log in
  • Ditto, but it seems to be a problem with lemmy.world. I successfully logged into a different instance.

  • Has your ergomechkeyboard helped you recover from RSI pain?
  • I had wrist pain for several years (on and off) before I bought an MS Ergonomic Natural keyboard. That and an evoluent vertical mouse eliminated my issues.

I have since moved to a UHK split keyboard and love it.

  • Former childcare worker charged with 1,623 sexual abuse offences against 91 children in Australia and overseas
  • There's a small island north of France where they could send him.

  • Using a router on construction board (e.g. “Wedi”) to make a beveled corner
  • If it's going to be in the shower, I can't recommend MDF or even plywood. Probably better to go with solid wood if you can, or even better if you can access a 3D printer, use that.

  • I am sick and tired of characters not communicating for the sake of drama
  • This is the number 1 reason I loved Brave. The mom and daughter had a fight, messed up, and spent the rest of the movie together working it out.

  • Removable "key" for electric mains?
  • The breaker panel is outside the shed (I understand this is by code) and low enough to be within reach of my son. I would prefer something inside the shed.

  • Removable "key" for electric mains?
  • Yes, thanks! This is what I was imagining.

  • Removable "key" for electric mains?
  • Looks like a fused disconnect is what I was looking for. Thanks!

  • Removable "key" for electric mains?
  • That should work, thanks!

  • Removable "key" for electric mains?

I have a small workshop/shed with some power tools and want to ensure that my kids cannot turn them on accidentally or on purpose without me present.

Is there some way to have a removable "key" that I can keep in the house which would physically disconnect all plug points in the shed?

I'm sure I've seen such removable connections for emergency use.

I'm not even sure what it's called to search for it.

How would you neatly and consistently round over the ends of dozens of 1/2" dowels?
  • You don't want the whole hemispherical cup. Just a semi circle.

The best and traditional tool for the job is a rasp. I recommend a Shinto rasp. Surprisingly fast and easy to use.
