It's more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules
  • I don't think the Prime Directive explicitly says you CAN'T have sex with alien women - no matter how primitive their technology is.

  • Son, we need to have a serious talk!
  • No idea how I ticked it or why - explains why I could never up-vote anything.

  • Son, we need to have a serious talk!
  • I had no idea this was set in my profile! - I'll have a look

  • Son, we need to have a serious talk!
  • I just want to know how many bears she knows on a a personal level to make it possible for there to be a "strange bear".

  • Aww, little baby smuggler trying to smuggle things to the Maquis?
  • And yet don't they both have the same crew size? The Falcon also has room in the back, doesn't the defiant just have a cockpit? It's been a while since I last saw the inside of the Defiant.

  • TikTok Ban, good or bad?
  • I trust TikTok as much as I trust any American owned company. We all know either way, the data is going to some government or other. It just that America are more likely to do something with it that will affect me. I have no plans on going to China, but seeing as how buddy-buddy the US is with the UK, FAANG are more likely to do me harm than TikTok.

  • Using they/them pronouns is confusing and difficult to read because one always thinks of a plurality of people. Why not just pick new words to use?
  • Person 1: Is your friend Bob coming over? Person 2: No, they can't make it, they're busy

One Bob, and we all know it's one Bob, no confusion. Look for context. It's not that hard.

  • But she did a great job of photoshopping out William.

  • Tesla Cybertruck crashes into iconic Beverly Hills Hotel sign
  • Somehow the second half of the article reads like an advertisement for the cybertruck. Did Elon write it?

  • Finish Her!
  • Too soon

  • Because this is so much better than a butcher block!
  • Why are the knives so far away from the food prep area?

  • Does this mean he doesn't have the money? Hmmnnn. Looks like he DID lie about how much money he has.

  • Apple’s decision to drop iPhone web apps comes under scrutiny in the EU
  • FTA: "Introducing web app support for other browsers would require the company to build an entirely new integration architecture" So what? You don't have the money or the talent do to this? Come on Apple. Stop playing the victim here.

  • I need this more than anything
  • Anyone else remember the YouTube series - "Epic Rap Battles From History?" - We need an AI to do the Star Trek version.

  • What's the worst way you ever broke production?
  • Plugged a server in after it had been repaired but the person whose responsibility it was insisted it would be fine - they didn't release the FSMO roles from it, the time was an hour out, it changed the time EVERYWHERE and broke ALL THE THINGS. Not technically my fault, but i should have pushed harder for them to have demoted it before I turned it back on.

  • What's the worst case of bootlicking you've ever seen?
  • Someone in a school I worked in changed from saying 'specific' to 'pacific' just because the deputy head said it that way.

  • Apple announces there are over 1,000 dedicated apps for Vision Pro
  • How many of these are productivity rather the 'content consumption'. I doubt people will actually get any work done on it. Sure, you can mirror your screen and work on a mountain-top, but that's not much of a use-case and would get old quick.

  • Might as well watch it one more time for good measure.
  • Whenever Picard breaks that outfit out you know it's a safe episode to skip

  • New to Linux? Ubuntu Isn’t Your Only Option
  • "They're the same picture" Pam from The Office

  • What are some things you think tech people presume others know, and know how to do?
  • That if they use a Maf they'll know what the Finder is. I was doing some support to help out new starters at a university and someone with a Mac came up whilst I was helping their friend so tried to help both and asked the Mad user to open the Finder (something I asumed they'd know how to do owning a Mac) but apparently they didn't. I then lost faith in all Mac users and realised most of them have no idea what things are called and just use a Mac in willfull ignorance.

  • Are ther any 'false ends' in Classical Music like there are in mainstream music

Lots of rock / pop music often make you think the song has ended (sometimes even having a few seconds of silence) only to carry on for a few seconds / minute. Does any classical music do this?
