‘You’re Telling Me in 2023, You Still Have a ’Droid?’ Why Teens Hate Android Phones
  • Apple has much better support for their phones, you can get iOS 17 on Xr which was released in 2018. On the other hand pixel 3 which was also released in 2018 lost official support with android 12 but of course in android you could just flash a custom rom and call it a day. So I don't think it's fair to say you need to upgrade every "couple" of years given the average user probably upgrades every 3-4 years regardless if they use iOS or Android.

  • So how long until the Fediverse is monetized?
  • The cost will be spread out on an instance by instance basis due to which the cost per user will be low and if not they can also host their own instance which doesn't cost a lot. If it's something around $5 a month I wouldn't mind paying to support a service I plan on using everyday.

  • This years Top 5 best selling games - is 2023 a good gaming year?
  • Zelda tears of the kingdom is probably my favorite open world game uptil now, there's just so much to do and the building mechanics make the game a lot more fun. I've spent more time building and exploring rather than doing the main story, also collecting outfits and farming is fun as i figure out new ways to kill hoards of enemies. Can't wait to see how other open world games get inspired by the new zelda.

  • Four apps and counting, how is everyone else doing?
  • Man I love how new apps are coming out everyday. It feels like I'm witnessing history in the making, in the next 5 years we can probably talk about the time when Lemmy was getting a new app everyday.

  • PSA: Lemmy.ml is not Lemmy
  • I feel like for most people who aren't that into technology the concept of a decentralized network can seem a little overwhelming given most of them are used to social media that is controlled by one company.
